PROMISE Technology Inc. today announced it will showcase its end-to-end storage solutions for creative professionals at IBC 2014 in Amsterdam from September 12 – 16. PROMISE is partnering with the leading companies in the media and entertainment industry, including Adobe, AJA, Archiware, ARRI, Autodesk, Canon, GoPro, HP and Intel to showcase how the company’s line of storage solutions deliver the capacity and performance required for 4K content creation in single and multi-user environments across both Mac and Windows platforms.

“4K video delivers gorgeous images, but everyone from small independent post production houses to the world’s leading media organizations face infrastructure challenges for ingesting, editing, and delivering this content,” said John van den Elzen, Managing Director, PROMISE Technology EMEA. “Storage solutions play a critical role in helping overcome the challenges of 4K video. PROMISE’s exciting product demonstrations at IBC will illustrate precisely how our solutions solve these pain points and help creative professionals work more efficiently.”

End-to-End Storage Solutions for 4K Content Creation
4K data requires massive storage capacity and there are latency and bandwidth issues with the process of workflows. Many solution providers either offer separate appliances, separate storage systems, or only consumer storage not meant for remote work. At IBC 2014, PROMISE will showcase how it addresses these issues to help customers become 4K ready with product demonstrations featuring its end-to-end storage solutions, including Pegasus2 Thunderbolt™ 2 desktop RAID storage, the VTrak A3800 shared storage appliance and the G1100 NAS Gateway. The SANLink2 Thunderbolt 2 to 8G Fibre Channel/10GBaseT bridge connect SAN and NAS clients, including the Mac Pro and HP ZBook Mobile Workstations, to PROMISE’s shared storage solution which will feature live editing demos with Adobe Premiere Pro and Autodesk Maya.

For mobile solutions suitable for remote work, PROMISE will showcase the small form factor Pegasus2 M4 and HP ZBook Mobile Workstations which provides performance for creative professionals who need storage in the field.

Thunderbolt 2 Mac and Windows Ecosystems
Thunderbolt 2 solutions are key for being 4K ready. PROMISE will showcase Pegasus2 in demonstrations for professionals in both the Mac and Windows ecosystems. By qualifying Pegasus2 on Macs and PCs, including HP Z Workstations and HP Z Mobile Workstations, creative professionals on both platforms can now leverage the portable RAID storage solution for post-production and broadcasting, such as offsite shoots, remote studios, or department workgroups with verified compatibility and stability. Thunderbolt 2 demos of the Pegasus2 and HP Z Workstations will also be showcased on the IBC show floor at the Intel® product display.

“With Thunderbolt 2, and solutions like the PROMISE Pegasus2, content creators can design simple, more flexible workflows on both Macs and PCs,” said Jason Ziller, Marketing Director for Thunderbolt at Intel. “It’s exciting to imagine the many new experiences that are possible for a whole new range of professionals.”

“Thunderbolt 2 and Pegasus2 are ideally suited to HP Z Workstations as together they offer exceptionally fast connectivity that enables pros to push the limits of their creativity,” said Andrew Bodley, Workstation R&D IO Architect, HP. “Customers can build an amazing editing system with Pegasus2 and HP’s Thunderbolt-enabled Z Workstations that will deliver outstanding performance for even the most demanding projects.”
