Seagate Technology (NASDAQ: STX), a worldwide leader in hard drives and storage solutions, today showcased its leading enterprise storage solutions at the 2014 Huawei Cloud Congress at the Shanghai Expo Center.

During the conference, Seagate signed a supplier cooperation agreement with Huawei under which both parties agreed to expand cooperation to establish a joint laboratory and collaborate on new products, technology and marketing for cloud storage solutions. This includes more closely aligning their product and technology roadmaps.

The two-day 2014 Huawei Cloud Congress invites leaders in cloud computing technology, top managers from well-known enterprises and industry experts, to discuss the latest research results on cloud computing, mobile applications, data center management and enterprise applications, as well as sharing practical experience on cloud computing deployment, and exploring new ways of cloud computing.

Rocky Pimentel, Seagate’s President, Global Markets and Customers said, “As a worldwide leader in intelligent storage, Seagate is heavily focused on collaborating with leaders in cloud services in China. By working more closely with Huawei, our objective is to capitalize on each firm’s strengths to provide enhanced cloud services and provide a better customer experience.”

“Seagate and Huawei have maintained a strong working relationship for many years, which has resulted in both gaining more business in China,” said Zheng Yelai, President of IT Product Line at Huawei. “By signing this strategic supplier cooperation agreement, we will further deepen the relationship and work towards developing new products with enhanced storage capabilities and improved system reliability.”

Sandy Sun, Seagate’s vice president and general manager for China, attended the congress and participated in a panel discussion with other industry leaders on topics related to best cloud practices and future developments. Participants at the show were invited to visit Seagate’s booth (2001) to get a better understanding of the company’s industry-leading storage solutions for the cloud.

Cloud computing enables the flexible distribution of IT resources and data integrity, with intelligent storage being a major component to cloud service. Seagate has established strategic alliances with a number of domestic cloud service providers in China, such as Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, Qihoo, Toyou, SuperCloud, and Digital China. In 2014, Seagate products and services have been deployed across numerous industry sectors including communication, banking, education, medical and real estate, in more than 300 cities across the country. Meanwhile, Seagate is working with Chinese clients and corporate partners to build intelligent cloud services with green technologies.
