Sharp today announces the launch of two new high performance black and white multifunction printers (MX-M754N and MX-M654N), which combine fast print, copy and scan speeds and the ability to handle a wide range of media, with advanced finishing options.

Rachel Dean, European Product Planning Manager, Sharp Europe, said: “This launch reinforces Sharp’s line-up, offering a consistent control interface which will be familiar to users of other Sharp A3 devices. For further ease of use, Sharp's OSA software platform can be integrated from the control panel, turning the devices into customisable tools for any workflow.”

The MX-M754N and MX-M654N offer optimised productivity even on long and complex print runs. They provide quick warm up time, fast first copy out time and toner can be replaced without interrupting a print/copy job which is a real advantage in busy environments requiring high volume output. Both models include 3GB of memory as standard to manage high quality jobs quickly, and boast a speed of 75 pages per minute (MX-M754N) and 65 pages per minute (MX-M654N).

The new devices have been designed to improve usability and are controlled via a 10.1” tiltable colour touch panel with multi-touch control. The MFPs also have an optional retractable keyboard making data entry quick and easy, and image preview to make sure the user gets the result they want.

There are a wide variety of finishing options, including a 4,000 sheet finisher, saddle stitching, 50 or 100 sheet stapling, hole punching, multi-folding, inline trimming, post-process insertion and curl correction. The devices can also handle a wide range of media, up to 300g/m² in weight.

With the range of finishing options on offer and the ability to handle many media types, businesses can use the MX-M754N and MX-M654N to create more of their own materials in-house, for example, brochures, direct marketing materials, user manuals and folded collateral for inserting into envelopes for direct mail.

The new MFPs allow businesses to make the most of the cloud. With Sharp OSA as standard, users can connect to cloud applications (such as Sharp’s collaborative storage and workflow service Cloud Portal Office) and manage jobs remotely.

The MX-M754N and MX-M654N meet high security standards required by data sensitive environments, providing multiple levels of protection. Data stored on the internal hard drive is automatically protected and can be securely overwritten. When it is time to replace the device, the overwrite function means that all data is permanently wiped, so no sensitive data leaves the organisation.

Unknown devices are blocked from using the MFPs via IP/MAC address filtering, so that they cannot be used as a gateway for mounting a remote attack and SSL and IPsec are used for secure network communications. With Document Control, users can watermark documents they want to protect and user authentication holds documents until the user is ready to print so sensitive information is not left lying on the MFP tray.

With the pressure on offices to conserve energy and save money wherever possible, both MFPs –  Energy Star certified – have an exceptionally low Total Energy Consumption (TEC) rating and an ‘Eco-Recommendation’ function that suggests environmentally friendly settings before a print/copy job is executed. To make it as easy as possible for users, Eco Save Mode runs a number of energy saving settings together automatically. Other features include Power Save Mode and Auto Power Shut Off, which can be set to activate after a set period of inactivity, and Power/On-Off Scheduling, to turn the machine on and off as required, for example, turning on just as people arrive at the office in the morning.
