The BCM7448S and BCM7449S chips for connected home gateways and IP clients support multiple Ultra HD video compression standards for operators and manufacturers to cost-effectively deliver the widest variety of 4K content to home subscribers. With integrated MoCA 2.0, the BCM7448S and BCM7449S are hardware and software compatible for upgrade with
"Since Broadcom first delivered MoCA integration in its set-top box portfolio in 2009, we have worked tirelessly to provide operators and manufacturers with the most advanced and cost-effective solutions featuring the latest connectivity technology," said
The BCM7448S and BCM7449S include support for two of the most advanced video compression standards, including the High Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC) standard and Google VP9 technology. Both standards reduce the delivered bitrate for comparable video quality by approximately 50 percent1. Advanced compression standards also provide video service providers with set-top boxes capable of decoding and displaying Ultra HD, whether from traditional carriers or Google's YouTube channel, to subscribers' primary TVs. The chips also deliver industry-leading display resolution speeds of 60 frames per second (4Kp60), which provides a smoother and more realistic on-screen experience.
