Computex 2024 has officially begun, and SilverStone Technology, a world-renowned PC solutions provider, is in attendance this year; seizing the opportunity to showcase its lineup of revolutionary innovative designs that address the latest technology trends, SilverStone demonstrates its capabilities in adapting to the dynamic landscape of the PC DIY market. With Artificial Intelligence (AI) being the focal point for many manufacturers in the current landscape, SilverStone remains at the forefront, offering cutting-edge solutions that not only meet but exceed the demands of AI-driven tasks. From 19” workstation rackmount chassis to super-tower workstations designed for a wide array of AI-related applications, advanced cooling solutions, and robust power supplies, SilverStone’s lineup at Computex 2024 offers enhanced performance, reliability, and scalability.

Chassis

At the forefront of SilverStone’s booth stand four workstation chassis, each proudly representing the pinnacle of engineering and design in the realm of workstation solutions. Among them are two 6U-height, 19” rackmount chassis - the RM600 and RM61-312. These models epitomize liquid cooling excellence and high-density storage capability. They challenge traditional norms and standards of rackmount cooling by boldly venturing into a 6U-height, 19” form factor for rackmount workstation chassis. Equipped with triple 360mm radiators and dual PSU support, they provide enhanced flexibility and capability compared to their previous 4U and 5U predecessors.

The RM600 also serves as the foundation upon which the RM61-312 is based, incorporating 12 hot-swappable drive trays occupying the bottom 2U height. These trays support both 2.5” SSDs and 3.5” HDDs, each capable of operating in 12G-SAS or 6G-SATA format, and 12Gb/s Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors with SGPIO compatibility.

Another standout product is the ALTA D1, a mega-tower workstation chassis designed for various applications including hyper-converged and high-computational systems like 3D rendering and machine learning. The ALTA D1 made its first appearance at SilverStone’s 2023 Computex booth, where it caught the attention of the masses due to its innovative design and impressive performance capabilities. This year, SilverStone has further refined the ALTA D1, incorporating feedback received while improving its overall quality and usability to accommodate the heighted requirements of contemporary components and applications.

The ALTA D1 offers unparalleled modularity, supporting an SSI-EEB motherboard and boasting 11 PCI expansion slots. A dual-CPU, multi-GPU system can be easily achieved, but the key feature of this case lies within its included modular cages for storage drives, radiators, and PSU brackets, which allow users the freedom to redefine system component locations and explore endless possibilities for a diverse system configuration.

If you're familiar with SilverStone designs, then this case would be right up your alley. Built upon the design of its iconic TJ07 – highly regarded by computer enthusiasts and often referred to as a 'classic' and 'iconic' case even after all these years – SilverStone decided to pay homage to its legacy by creating a workstation successor. Equipped with exceptional design, functionality, and durability reminiscent of the TJ07, the C423 brings these qualities into the realm of workstation cases.

For its first public unveiling, the ALTA T1 represents another mega-tower workstation aimed at pushing the boundaries of innovation and aesthetics. It accommodates SSI-EEB (12” x 13”) motherboards and features a total of 8 PCI expansion slots, making it ideal for multi-CPU, and multi-GPU workstation configurations. In terms of cooling, the chassis interior is equipped with three 420mm radiator mounts, providing a substantial cooling surface to meet the increased power and cooling requirements of modern workstation components such as the Nvidia RTX A6000 GPU and Zen 4-based Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series CPU.

Dual PSU compatibility is another feature in the ALTA T1, aligned with the true SilverStone workstation philosophy. This is a feature SilverStone implemented in many of its cases since server and workstation chassis benefits from the installation of a secondary power supply to provide additional boost in performance and stability.

Cooling Solutions & Power Supplies

SilverStone’s dedication to the industrial and server scene extends beyond rackmount innovations. At the front of the booth sits our chassis behemoth, next to which are showcased industrial products tailored specifically for server and workstation applications. Among these are air coolers ranging from 1U to 4U, while the liquid coolers address both AMD sTR5 socket (XE360-TR5) and Intel LGA 4677 (XE360-4677) processors.

For PSUs, aside from the usual 1U and 2U redundant power supplies found in SilverStone’s extensive industrial PSU catalogue, a recent addition to the form factor lineup is the Common Redundant Power Supply (CRPS). This addition aims to diversify the product lines, in response to the growing demand for AI-driven tasks where systems rely heavily on industrial power supplies for their reliability and redundancy. Currently, 800W (Gemini 800C Platinum) and 1300W (Gemini 1300C Platinum) units are available on the market. However, SilverStone plans to expand its lineup in the second half of 2024 with two new high-wattage units: 2000W (Gemini 2000C Platinum) and 2400W (Gemini 2400C Platinum).

SilverStone’s Computex 2024 booth design compared to previous years has a slight change of direction, with the focus mainly on AI-driven tasks. The booth layout reflects this shift, featuring prominent displays of industrial-grade components optimized for AI workloads.

For those interested in witnessing SilverStone’s adaptation and shift in person, Computex 2024 will be running until June 7th. If you are in town and have some spare time, make sure to stop by booth #I0509 and enjoy the captivating design SilverStone has to offer for the remainder of 2024.
