EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the release of the first version update for its CuratOR MIR-1 medical imaging recorder. Additionally, the company has introduced the CuratOR MIR Browser, a new medical imaging viewer and management software.
An organized and intuitive back-end video recording and data management system for handling high volumes of medical data is essential for hospitals. It enables better utilization of unstructured data to improve patient care, enhance scientific research, and facilitate education.
In 2023, EIZO introduced its first medical imaging recorder, the MIR-1, designed to archive video captured by endoscopy, microsurgery, or surgical field cameras in high-quality 4K/60p. To further streamline usage, EIZO released the first version update for the MIR-1. With version 2.0, the MIR-1 can store data on a NAS (Network Attached Storage) file server during recording, or transfer the data to the NAS after the recording is completed. This eliminates the need for external media, ensuring more secure data transfer.
In addition to the MIR-1 version 2.0, EIZO introduced the CuratOR MIR Browser – a software solution designed for viewing, editing, and managing medical videos recording on NAS or external media, accessible on physician’s PCs. It works seamlessly with the MIR-1 recorder, allowing users to access recorded videos of surgical procedures stored on the NAS or external media. These videos can be viewed on PCs in the physician’s office and conference rooms where the MIR Browser is installed.
The MIR Browser enables efficient management of medical videos and corresponding patient information entered at the time of recording via the MIR-1 recorder. Users can filter by patient name, patient ID, and recording date and time. Additionally, custom keywords, such as surgery details, can be applied to each recording to optimize search and filter functions.
The MIR Browser’s cut function allows users to save a video clip or still snapshot from a specific segment of the medical video recording. Annotations can also be added directly to the recordings to clearly indicate areas of interest and enhance comprehension for medical research or surgeon training.
The software’s masking function allows sensitive information, such as a patient’s name, to be concealed by obscuring specified sections fo the video. This ensures patient privacy is protected when medical recordings are used for educational or training purposes.
The MIR Browser allows users to play back and save 3D video recorded by the MIR-1 recorder in 2D by expanding one side of a side-by-side or top-and-bottom 3D signal input. This functionality enables the viewing of 3D-recorded videos even without a 3D monitor.
Through such hardware upgrades and the development of new software, EIZO further strengthens its medical imaging chain, which provides solutions for capturing, transmitting, recording, and displaying video data.
