Noctua today confirmed that all its CPU coolers and mounting-kits that support Intel® LGA1700 also support the new LGA1851 socket of the upcoming Core™ Ultra desktop processors (Series 2), also known under the code name Arrow Lake-S. Mounting upgrade kits for older heatsink models that do not yet support LGA1700 and LGA1851 will be provided to customers free of charge.
“We have offered free-of-charge mounting upgrade kits to our customers ever since AMD introduced AM2 in 2006, and we’re proudly continuing this tradition with the upcoming Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 2 processors and their new LGA1851 socket”, says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “While all our current multi-socket coolers already support LGA1851 out of the box and don’t require any updates, customers will be able to upgrade most older coolers at no additional cost, so even the very first Noctua coolers from 2005 can be used on the latest Intel processors!”
Intel’s new Core™ Ultra desktop processors (Series 2), also known under the code name Arrow Lake-S, are based on the entirely new LGA1851 socket that supersedes the previous LGA1700 platform. While the new Core™ Ultra 9 285K, Core™ Ultra 7 265K or Core™ Ultra 5 245K models cannot be used on LGA1700 motherboards, all LGA1700 compatible Noctua CPU coolers and mounting kits are also compatible with LGA1851 and do not require any updates to be used on the new Z890 motherboards. Older heatsinks that do not yet include LGA1700 mounting parts can be upgraded free of charge through the mounting kit order form on Noctua’s website. For ordering, a proof of purchase of both an eligible Noctua CPU cooler and either an LGA1851 CPU or an LGA1851 motherboard will be required.
Depending on the country, express shipping options may be available but will be subject to service charges. Alternatively, customers who need the mounting kits urgently can purchase the NM-i17xx-MP83 and NM-i17xx-MP78 sets on Amazon for a suggested service charge of EUR/USD 8.90 (regular) or 9.90 (chromax.black). “Using a CPU cooler across several platform generations instead of buying a new heatsink for each generation is not only economical, but also helps to reduce unnecessary waste and save precious resources”, explains Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “By upgrading rather than replacing your cooler, you’re actively contributing to a more sustainable PC industry!”
For customers looking to future-proof their Noctua cooler across both AMD and Intel platforms, Noctua recommends the NM-M1-MP83 or NM-M1-MP78 kits. These packages include all necessary SecuFirm2+® mounting hardware for AM5 and LGA1851/LGA1700 sockets, alongside a Torx® screwdriver for easy installation.
