News highlights:
- Accelerating development on Arm from Cloud-to-Edge with the new Arm extension for GitHub Copilot
- Native Arm runners offer a seamless developer workflow for deploying cloud native, Windows on Arm and cloud to edge AI software
- The combination of GitHub Actions, native GitHub runners and AI frameworks supported on Arm is unlocking simplified AI workflows and deployments for 20 million developers worldwide
Arm is revolutionizing software development by integrating its compute platform with GitHub, the largest developer community, further enhanced by the powerful GitHub Copilot. With the help of Copilot’s AI-powered code suggestions, developers can write, test, and optimize code faster on Arm. By integrating Arm tools into GitHub Actions, developers can now streamline tasks across applications, from cloud-native web applications to AI solutions, all while lowering costs and increasing productivity. This partnership empowers the 20 million developers building on Arm today to harness the full potential of the world’s most pervasive compute platform and the world’s largest developer platform to make development faster, easier, and more efficient.
Streamlined Arm-based development with GitHub Copilot Extensions
Soon to be available as part of the GitHub Marketplace, the Arm Extension for GitHub Copilot will help developers build, test, and deploy software more efficiently, increasing productivity and impact. The extension, integrated with curated datasets, will offer specialized tools for AI code development such as code migration, containerization, CI/CD workflows, and performance optimization, ensuring a more seamless cloud to edge deployment experience. Watch this space for more updates on availability, expected later this year.
Arm64 Runners: A faster, more seamless developer workflow
Earlier this year, GitHub announced the general availability of Arm64 Linux and Windows Native Arm runners for GitHub Actions. Available to customers on GitHub’s Team and Enterprise Cloud plans, these runners streamline development, reduce costs, and boost speed. Arm64 runners also improve efficiency for AI pipelines with popular frameworks like PyTorch.
We’ll be at GitHub Universe this week to discuss how developers can maximize performance, accelerate time-to-market, and minimize cost in their next projects. I’ll also be giving a talk on accelerating cloud-to-edge development flows with GitHub Copilot and GitHub Actions.
Our long-term vision is to enable developers to seamlessly deploy, test, and optimize their applications across the entire surface area of their applications, end-to-end, reliably and safely from the biggest cloud solutions to the smallest sensors. Stay tuned for more exciting developments in this space!
