QNAP® System, Inc., a world leader in network attached storage, and axle Video, an award-winning pioneer in radically simple media management software, will showcase two joint hardware/software solutions for video production workgroups at the 2013 NAB Show in Las Vegas. Both solutions are available immediately, at prices that are a fraction of traditional storage/asset management solutions for the video industry. The companies are providing these solutions for use where large amounts of video footage need to be stored and accessed across a network. axle is strongly recommending these solutions for use as Tier 2 (parking, light editing and video nearline) storage.
- solution: Starting at less than US $7,995, this solution combines QNAP's TS-879 Pro Turbo NAS desktop storage system, which supports up to 32 terabytes of storage capacity and high speed Ethernet access capability (up to 10GbE), with axle's radically simple media management solution, axle 2012, powered by Apple’s Mac mini quad core i7 system.
- solution: Starting at less than US $12,995, this solution combines QNAP's TS-1270U-RP business-class series Turbo NAS ,with support for up to 48 terabytes and high speed Ethernet access capability(up to 10GbE), with axle Gear™, a complete appliance for media management and transcoding that fits in 1U of rack space right next to your shared storage.
These solutions support cross-platform file sharing for Windows®, Mac®, and Linux/UNIX users, and provide a centralized storage solution. FTP server software is also included for compatibility with legacy file transfer requirements, directly into the shared storage pool. In addition, 5 user licenses of the axle media management software are included in each solution. The axle software enables easy review and approval workflows, timeline annotation, shot selection and powerful search and collaboration, all through any web browser on iPad, Mac and PC. No client software installation is required.
Both solutions can easily be upgraded through a number of expansion options, including:
- the addition of a 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter on the QNAP NAS solutions, allowing faster access from a larger number of workstations or proxy generation servers.
- the addition of one or more separate quad-core Mac Minis running Telestream Episode Pro software for higher speed H.264 proxy generation.
These new QNAP/axle solutions will be displayed at the QNAP booth SL9407 and axle Video booth SL14316, and are available through axle Video’s resellers worldwide.
