ASUS today announced ProArt PA40SU, a premium external SSD enclosure designed for creators who require fast, stable storage in a refined, portable form factor. USB4® technology enables transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps for efficient handling of large media files and backups.  

The enclosure features a four-level smart cooling fan that keeps temperatures in check for sustained performance during extended workloads, and its Stealth Black chassis has an ultraslim profile that measures a mere 13.5mm — ideal for in-studio or on-location use. In addition, the PA40SU includes the exclusive ProArt SSD Dashboard for real-time monitoring.

ProArt PA40SU leverages USB4 to deliver up to 40Gbps transfer speeds and supports NVMe® M.2 SSDs in both 2230 and 2280 form factors, offering flexible storage expansion to cater to diverse needs. Designed for 4K video editing workflows, large asset transfers, backups and more, PA40SU helps creators handle storage-intensive tasks more efficiently. Additionally, the intuitive ProArt SSD Dashboard provides real-time visibility into SSD status, health, and performance. 

Active cooling for sustained transfers  

A built-in four-level smart cooling fan and thermal pad in ProArt PA40SU efficiently manage heat during demanding creative workflows. This active cooling design prevents heat buildup and minimizes throttling during extended sessions, helping maintain stable performance for editing, backups, and large file transfers. In internal ASUS tests, PA40SU transferred up to 2960GB of data continuously over a 30-minute period.

User-friendly design 

The slim 13.5mm profile and understated Stealth Black finish of ProArt PA40SU make it ideal for professional creative setups — in the studio or on location — and its tool-free, push-to-open mechanism allows quick SSD installation or replacement.
