LSI Corporation (NASDAQ: LSI) today announced the kick-off of its annual Global Volunteer Week, which runs from June 17-21. About 2,000 LSI employees around the globe are volunteering their time at more than 100 nonprofit community organizations. College students in LSI’s Internship Program also will be participating this year.
Employees from LSI sites in North America, Asia and Europe will contribute their time helping with causes ranging from home building, camps for inner-city children and elder care to soup kitchens, environmental cleanup and animal shelters. Among the projects, LSI employees will be repairing bicycles for homeless and low-income working people who need safe, reliable transportation.
“At LSI, we are committed to helping our local communities by providing our time and talents for the benefit of many charitable organizations,” said Abhi Talwalkar, president and CEO, LSI. “Our dedicated employees step up to the challenge each and every year, and they do so with a positive attitude and great enthusiasm.”
“LSI empowers our employees to become involved in causes and organizations they care deeply about, not just during Global Volunteer Week, but throughout the year,” said Gautam Srivastava, senior vice president, Human Resources and Corporate Marketing, LSI. “Their leadership and dedication will enable communities to grow and thrive, which benefits everyone.”
Charitable activities in which LSI employees participate year-round include mentoring students, delivering meals to the elderly, running and walking in 5K events, and donating backpacks filled with school supplies to thousands of underprivileged children worldwide.
