Given Thecus’s push to create an open platform for NAS developers with the inauguration of their App Center and active third-party module forum, it is unsurprising that Thecus® users and developers are embracing the freedom and versatility offered by the Thecus® ecosystem in greater and greater numbers. Two such pioneers are Brian Gilbert from Australia and Falk John from Germany.

Recently launched, Mr. Gilbert’s Thecus Underground website provides users a catalogue of modules. These apps for Thecus® NAS can be found by CPU architecture (x86 or x64), ThecusOS version (5 or 6), or just searched for by name. Once you’ve found just the right module to help expand your NAS’s functionality, simply download and install it (along with any of its dependencies – other modules that it requires to run). Details about the modules along with a community commenting system help round off this latest edition to the Thecus world.

On the other side of the world (Kelkheim, to be exact), developer Falk John’s FaJo.de has been up and running for a number of years already. As a host to Mr. John’s modules for Thecus® NAS as well as the cross tools used to build most of these, FaJo.de includes over 30 apps for Thecus® NAS (with 7 more in the works) along with a discussion forum and links to Thecus® guides, patches, and firmware. Besides these, Mr. John also posts updates to his independent projects, such as TimeTool, XP FSE, FileRenamer, and Win SMS.

So go check out Thecus Underground, FaJo.de, and the official Thecus® App Center. Install a few new modules and experience the NAS you never knew you had! (And don’t forget to buy Brian a beer or send Falk a donation while you’re at it for their great contributions to the Thecus Community)
