Lenovo Group (HKSE: 0992 and ADR: LNVGY) today officially opened a state-of-the-art research, development, sales operations and production facility for smartphone and tablet products. The facility is located in the central China city of Wuhan. Lenovo, which is the world’s number 1 PC company, number 2 PC + tablet company and number 3 smartphone maker, will use the facility to both accelerate growth and drive significant new innovation in smartphones and tablets.
The 200,000 square-meter facility has production lines, as well as sales operations and an R&D center that expands Lenovo’s research and development capabilities for tablets and smartphones at a time when demand for such products is at an all-time high.

As a major transportation hub in central China, Wuhan is a rapidly growing, dynamic city that has already attracted a number of major investments from Fortune 500 companies seeking to leverage its local talent and strategic position as a logistics center. With its investment in the Wuhan facility, Lenovo is also fostering the high tech ecosystem in Wuhan and the economic development of Central China.
In addition to its new Wuhan facility, Lenovo also manufactures products at its own facilities in Argentina, India, Mexico, Hungary, Brazil, Japan, the U.S. and multiple China locations. The company has opened five new manufacturing sites around the world since 2011, and acquired two other facilities through joint ventures. These in-house production capabilities, as well as Lenovo’s strategic partnerships with original design and contract manufacturers, form an efficient hybrid supply chain strategy that enables high market responsiveness, speeds product innovation and supports rapid business growth, all while limiting financial risk.
