QNAP® Security, a  professional Linux-based stand-alone NVR provider, today announced the new  VioStor NVR firmware v.4.2.0 supporting Microsoft® Internet Explorer  11, enhanced smart recording supporting more IP cameras, and a wider compatibility with  IP cameras and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).

“With the surging popularity of Internet Explorer  11, we are delighted to include IE 11 compatibility in VioStor NVR firmware  v.4.2.0,” said Andrew Yu, product manager of QNAP Security. Users can now  manage their VioStor NVR surveillance systems and enjoy an up-to-date experience  on the latest IE browser.

The VioStor NVR firmware v.4.2.0 also adds compatibility  for 41 IP camera models that support smart recording, taking the total  supported models to 90. Smart recording intelligently records standard  resolution videos in regular recording, and switches to high resolution automatically when alarms are triggered. This greatly saves on hard drive costs  and provides users with high resolution video evidence when needed. “The  expansion of supported IP cameras provides users with increased flexibility in  selecting suitable IP cameras to enjoy the benefits of smart recording,” said  Yu.

More IP camera models are supported in the  VioStor NVR firmware v.4.2.0, taking the total number of supported models to over  2,400. Businesses can enjoy high flexibility in deploying an ideal surveillance   solution with the wide-range of compatible IP cameras. The new firmware also  supports a new UPS model.
