This year's CES we partnered with HTC to demo one of the hottest technologies making its mark this year - the HTC Vive Pre VR set, powered by our ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980 Ti. If you are interested in gearing up for your own VR experience (pre-sale opens up February 29th), ZOTAC offers 11 cards that can power your play ranging from our 8” GTX 970 all the way to our GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme.
It’s fairly safe to say that we’ve come a long way since the Virtual Boy of old. Now we’re able to enjoy a full room 360 solution (12’x12’) at 90 frames per second with full color. Objects can be inspected and interacted with in every angle via 2 tracked wireless controllers that are simple and intuitive to use. Needless to say, we, in addition to the media and press who experienced demo the Vive Pre were simply amazed. The demos were motion sickness and headache free according to our testers and they were impressed by the low lag time, resulting in a seamless experience.
The HTC ground team was able to provide us with several demos which allowed us to fully explore what sets the Vive Pre apart from the rest. TiltBrush – 3D painting, theBlu – an under the sea experience, Arizona Sunshine – a VR take on the zombie apocalypse, and Aperture Robot Repair – trying to repair robots in the Portal universe.
