After 10TB was the limit since last year, the three biggest hard drive brands just recently pushed the capacity of their products to 12TB and Thecus is now officially supporting these new models. After thorough testing on a number of their NAS systems, Thecus is happy to confirm that the HGST Ultrastar He12, the WD Gold with 12 TB and the just released Seagate IronWolf and IronWolf Pro with 12TB are compatible with their products. Now you can push your NAS storage beyond the current limits and increase its capacity by at least 20 percent by adding those new 12TB hard drives.

All three aforementioned 12TB-HDDs are using Helium in the sealed casing to achieve those high capacities and improve their power efficiency which is especially important when used in high quantities in data centers. These 12TB-HDDs are drop-in ready for any Thecus NAS to expand capacity and satisfy any storage-needy application or environment. With this HDD upgrade, the maximum storage space of Thecus NAS has now been raised to a colossal capacity of 960TB when used with the N16850 and four daisy-chained D16000, for example, and therefore almost reaching one PetaByte of total data storage in one simple NAS cluster.
