MSI suggests updating to latest firmware to prevent potential issues due to the Intel Spectre vulnerability
City of Industry, CA - January 19, 2018 – MSI, a world leader in gaming hardware, provides a firmware patch to prevent potential problems due to the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities.
MSI gaming notebooks have been focused on pioneering and innovating gaming features for worldwide enthusiasts. When Intel announced its issue with Spectre and fixed the path on BIOS/EC firmware, MSI reacted quickly to deploy the quick update on all notebooks, Vortex and VR One models in early January 2018.
From Intel® 2nd Generation to 8th Generations Platform Processors Should Use this Update
MSI is aware of the recent security issues discovered by Google’s Project Zero team and have been working closely with its partners to prepare the Meltdown and Spectre attack vulnerability mitigations for all MSI customers. Everyday users may not have issues with daily work or gaming, but MSI wants to ensure all its mobile products are ready to update for any critical usage to prevent security or system issues.
All MSI Notebooks, Vortex and VR One units with Intel 2nd Generation up to 8th Generation Core Processors can use this update to prevent further issues. To get the protection for your system, MSI strongly recommends downloading the system BIOS (with the updated microcode) and the latest Windows Update patch.
