INTRODUCTION
Although most of us here prefer to listen to our favorite songs using cables to get the best possible audio quality none of us can deny that using a Bluetooth wireless headset is far more convenient especially if you're not at home. That's just the beginning however the really difficult part begins when you go out in the market to find the one Bluetooth wireless headset that can cover all your needs from audio quality and design up to battery life and size. We have reviewed several interesting Bluetooth wireless headsets with the JABRA REVO Wireless being perhaps the most impressive of them all but since not everyone can afford one such headset we decided to go out and search for far more cost-effective alternatives one of which is the latest SWAGE 2 Wireless Stereo Headphones by Rokit Boost.
Rokit Boost® is a pioneer and provider of affordable high-end, luxury mobile accessories. The company brings exceptional value to mobile lifestyle consumers by offering accessories that substantially improve the user experiences of existing electronic devices. Rokit Boost’s first priority is giving its customers complete satisfaction, with a philosophy of great customer service, great prices, and, above all else, great-quality products.
The first thing we noticed when we took the Swage 2 Wireless Stereo Headphones out of the box was the tiny size and so we expect that to be the best selling point for this product. Spec-wise it's not half bad either since the two 40mm dynamic drivers feature a frequency response of 80Hz-20KHz with 32 Ohm impedance and 108dB sensitivity while the built-in microphone has a sensitivity of -42dB. Rokit Boost has placed a 195mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack inside the Swage 2 which according to them can provide power to the device for up to 8 full hours of music playback and 20 days of standby time. Unfortunately Bluetooth v2.1 only gives the Swage 2 a range of 10m/33ft but i really see very little use for more range especially since that would mean a higher price tag (not to mention that your transmitting device would need to support that as well). So let's take a closer look and see what Rokit Boost has brought to the table with their latest Swage 2 Wireless Stereo Headphones.
SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
PACKAGING AND CONTENTS
A large product image is placed at the front right next to a 2D barcode which can be used to provide instructions (if scanned) on how to use the Swage 2.
The main product features are showcased on the left side of the box.
At the rear we see yet another product picture (showcasing the navigation buttons), a basic features list and three small cubes at the bottom pointing to its usages.
The box contains the Swage 2 Wireless Stereo Headphones, user guide, microUSB cable and a paper with a coupon code (feel free to use it).
THE SWAGE 2
The Swage 2 features an aluminum frame beneath the plastic cover and weighs just 135g.
To showcase the small size of the Swage 2 we placed it right next to the compact REVO Wireless headset (yes it's actually smaller).
All the available controls (volume up/down, next/previous track, play/pause/answer/end call) buttons are placed on the exterior of the right earcup.
The model name and company logo are placed on the exterior of the left earcup.
As you can see the earcups come with a slight range of motion which makes them quite comfortable especially while moving around.
Left and right markings are printed on the interior of the headband right above the earcups.
The padding over the earcups is covered with leatherette which although not very thick it's actually quite comfortable.
Although the Swage 2 virtually has no headpad the interior is covered with rubber making up for that.
The headband can extend up to 23mm on each side without any visible increments (46mm in total).
CONCLUSION
Rokit Boost is a name we hadn't heard of up until 2 months ago so they're certainly not amongst the top players in the market and that always makes us skeptical. However the Swage 2 wireless stereo headphones proved to be a very good alternative to our REVO Wireless not only because of their size and weight but also because of the quite good audio quality. Mids are good, highs are even better, bass is sufficient (as one can expect from such a small headset) and the volume levels are surprisingly high (again for the size) so unless your demands are set very high the Swage 2 should cover your everyday needs. Quality is also very good since thanks to the aluminum frame the headset can take quite a beating although it's still nowhere close to the REVO Wireless something we did expect from the get go (reflected on the price tag). The built-in microphone however didn't leave us with the best possible impressions and as a matter of fact it's not something we'd use often to answer calls but since it's not really the first time we've come across this issue it's not really crucial. Battery life is quite good although it hardly supplied enough juice for 6 hours of music playback with the volume maxed out (expected more or less as always).
So how much does the Swage 2 Wireless Stereo Headphones by Rokit Boost cost? Well currently its price tag is set quite low at USD54.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) but unfortunately unlike the original Swage it's not currently available inside the EU. People on a very tight budget will probably like that price tag while as usual the more demanding crowd will probably double that or even more to get something better (that always happens). Long story short the Swage 2 Wireless Stereo Headphones may not compare to the likes of the REVO Wireless but they do look well, sound good, are very light/comfortable and carry a tempting price tag which is why we award them with our Golden Award.
