I've always been a DYI guy, yes, i may not be the best at everything but i always like to fix things around both the house and the office on my own, if possible, of course. For example, recently i painted the secondary storage room and installed all the power sockets, switches and lights by myself and even though i seriously doubt that the end result is the same as if a professional had done it i really enjoyed putting in the work. Still not everything is as easy so when i was faced with a clogged drain at the office a few months back i had two choices, either hire a professional or figure out what was wrong on my own. Now the obvious solution to my problem was to use the cleaning coil that i always keep around but that didn't actually work out for me and so the next step was to take things further by inspecting each of the pipes, something which required tools i didn't have. So, what i did was reach out to several companies that make pipe inspection tools to see which could send one to me as soon as possible and the best answer came from a company I’d never heard before called SANYIPACE.

SANYIPACE has been focusing on the research and development, and production of inspection equipment, aiming to manufacture high-quality sewer inspection cameras from a professional point of view. SANYIPACE was founded in 2018, we have been committed to making repair work simple and easy, helping people eliminate costly repairs. We always keep an eye on the latest trends in sewer camera technology and put our customers’ wishes first. The interests of our customers are always the top priority for us, so we hope you will enjoy our products as much as we enjoy making them available to you.

SANYIPACE shipped their 9300D professional pipe inspection camera to me, a bundle that consists of a 9-inch HD color display (doubles as a microSD DVR), transmission cable made out of durable fiberglass (available with 20, 30 and 50 meters), IP68 certified camera with 6 adjustable LEDs and 145 degrees wide angle lens (720p stills and 1080p video) and an 4500mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack (up to 10 hours of use - there's also a Wi-Fi version available for use with smartphones) all of which are neatly placed inside an aluminum briefcase. Of course, the 9300D can be used for a wide range of things and not just pipe inspection (basically it can be used in places where its camera is small enough to fit) but since that was the entire reason i did get my hands on it let's see how it did in that regard.

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

The bundle arrived inside a plain cardboard box that just has a small sticker at the front with company and product information.

The briefcase is wrapped inside bubble wrap and placed between two foam spacers.

Build quality is quite good with aluminum and hard plastic as the primary materials.

3 black pieces of foam are used to keep the bundle secure inside the briefcase.

The 9-inch color display is covered with 3 pieces of leatherette.

This screen also doubles as a DVR thanks to the microSD port it has at the lower front (compatible with microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity).

SANYIPACE has placed each part in its own section of the briefcase.

The 4500mAh battery pack is located on the lower left and on it we find the charging LEDs, on/off switch, LED brightness knob and the camera, LED, power in and video ports.

At the center we find the 20 meter long transmission cable which is wrapped around an easy to use handle system (the rest of the bundle is placed beneath it).

So aside the 9-inch LCD color screen (attached on the briefcase - can be replaced), the 4500mAh battery pack and the transmission cable inside the briefcase you'll also find the flexible IP68 certified camera, two pipe accessories, power adapter, 8GB microSD card, compact screwdriver, warranty information paper, product guide, user manual and an $20 Amazon gift card.

THE 9300D

To use the 9300D pipe inspection camera you first need to connect the various parts like the 4500mAh battery pack with the transmission cable as seen above.

Then you'll also need to attach the flexible IP68 certified camera (21mm in diameter) on the end of the transmission cable.

If the pipe you want to inspect is larger than the camera you can use the extra accessories as seen above to protect and keep it steady/stable.

Finally, you'll need to connect the 9-inch LCD display to the 4500mAh battery pack (you can also connect it to power if you have a power socket near you and battery is not enough).

The 9-inch LCD display also allows you to grab screenshots and even clips onto a microSD card so above I’ve placed some screenshots from when the camera was in the pipes.

CONCLUSION

When I first thought about doing a quick showcase of the 9300D pipe inspection system I was unsure as to the how many of you reading these lines would find it useful. Yes, it did help me locate and clean the clogged pipe I had in the lab but it’s not exactly something I’d expect many people to spend money on. Still, since I did show it to a few friends (one of them also happens to be a plumber) and most of them seemed interested I was like, why not? Also as mentioned earlier this is not a product that one can use just to inspect pipes, you can use it in a plethora of scenarios where you need to have eyes on something (near or far – up to 50m far depending on the product version) which can only be reached by a relatively small object like this camera. Of course, the IP68 certified camera that comes with the 9300D is not tiny enough (21mm in diameter) to be used with car engines and very tight places in general (even a couple of pipes I tried it with were too small for the camera to fit) which is why SANYIPACE is now working on an even smaller camera which from what I gather will be compatible with all their systems (just swap cameras when needed). The 9-inch LCD display may not produce the best image quality but it’s a good match with the camera which overall does well even in very dark places thanks to the adjustable brightness of the 6 surrounding LEDs. Battery life is very close to what SANYIPACE reports so even though I wasn’t able to hit 10 hours I did surpass 7 (only used it for less than 1 but did 5 battery cycles to see how much it lasts) which is more than plenty for any work one may want the 9300D for. The sole drawback I think this system has is the fiberglass transmission cable which although flexible it still has some limitations (for example you can’t bend it 90 degrees). Again, I am not a plumber so this could be standard for such devices (they probably favour durability over flexibility for industrial applications) but it would be very convenient if the transmission cable could bend even further.

At a price tag of USD379.99 (SANYIPACE) the 9300D professional pipe inspection camera from SANYIPACE is certain an investment I don’t expect many non-professionals to make. Still, if you’re like me and you like doing everything on your own (or if you’re a professional looking for something like this) this could be extremely useful to you. Once again, I’m not a professional plumber which is why i can’t possibly rank this particular device, still it did help me resolve the issue i had quickly so if you like what you see and you think that it could also be helpful to you then give it a shot, it might just surprise you.
