proscenic p10 review a

If you happen to have pets at home like i do then you're all too aware of just how hard it is to keep things clean, especially if you work most hours of the day (and sometimes the night too). Lucky for people like us the introduction of smart robot vacuum cleaners has made things considerably easier but at the end of the day no matter how good and convenient a robot vacuum might be it's just not enough to keep an entire home clean so using a regular vacuum is really not something that can be avoided. Regular vacuums however are not only bulky (even the really "compact" ones) but they also require to be plugged onto an electrical socket and in a world where cables/cords are slowly considered by many to be a nuisance this is of course not ideal. Cordless vacuums are trying to change that and since I’m very interested in everything related to home cleaning i decided to check the brand new P10 model by Proscenic.

Proscenic" is a combination of “prosperous” and “scenic”, which symbolizes the future of intelligent life. The company was founded in 1993, it is a comprehensive home appliance manufacturer integrating R & D, manufacturing and sales. The company established branches in Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, France, to build a solid foundation for the brand's localized marketing and after-sales service, strives to build Proscenic into a leading brand in the smart home appliance industry in the next 5 -10 years.

The P10 cordless vacuum cleaner by Proscenic is among the most powerful models in the market currently thanks to its internal 260W brushless turbo 3.0 motor which can spin up to 110.000 RPM to produce up to 22000Pa of suction power. Of course, the P10 vacuum gives the end user the ability to choose between a total of 4 different modes aimed at different cleaning scenarios/needs (6500Pa for dust & hair, 10500Pa for oat granules, 14500Pa for biscuit crumbs and 22000Pa for large particles) and also features an 0.65l removable dust container, rear touch LED screen, 4 stages MSF cyclone filtration system (replaceable HEPA filter included), two different brushes (one is also motorized) and a 2200mAh lithium-ion battery pack (6 LG cells) which can power the vacuum continuously for up to 48 minutes (without any of the two brushes attached). As with all their previous cordless models Proscenic makes the P10 available in just 1 color combination (blue, black and silver) and covers it with 1 year limited warranty (2 in the EU).

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

proscenic p10 review 1tThe P10 gets shipped inside a plain cardboard box that just has a drawing of the product at the front and top.

On the left side of the box Proscenic has placed the electrical specifications of the P10 in 8 languages.

Aside the main body of the vacuum which is placed between two foam spacers the rest of the bundle is placed in two small cardboard boxes.

The bundle happens to be very rich so aside the main body of the P10 you'll also get a long aluminum extension tube, mini motorized brush, floor roller brush, corner nozzle, round brush, charging adapter, small cleaning brush, user manual, 2D barcode paper (redirects you to Proscenic social media pages) and the charging wall base with all the necessary bits required to mount it.

THE P10

With a weight or roughly 1501g the main body of the P10 (the exterior is almost entirely made out of glossy plastic) may not be the lightest in the market but it's also far from heavy.

In terms of design the P10 looks a lot like a futuristic gun from an FPS game.

The dust bin is located at the top right in front of the brushless motor.

Instead of an on/off switch the P10 has a very convenient trigger like button.

Right over the trigger we find the touch LED display.

The power port is located just beneath the dust bin and the rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack.

To remove the 2200mAh battery pack just push the switch above it (I’ve read around the web that you can remove the battery and charge it but that has to be a typo, at least not without getting anything extra).

USING THE P10

From the touch LED display, you can both check the current battery life (green for ok and red for depleted) and various error codes (never got one during testing) and adjust the speed of the motor via 4 different modes/speeds (6500/10500/14500/22000Pa).

There are two ways for you to empty/clean the dust bin, the quick way is to open the front and just let gravity do the rest (if that doesn't work press the on/off button).

Still the first way doesn't remove everything so you can also detach the entire dust bin by pushing these two buttons located on both sides.

Depending on the amount of dirt accumulated inside once you remove the dust bin you can dismantle and clean it.

The long aluminum tube also takes power from the main body of the P10 for the lights of the floor roller brush (these look like UV lights).

With the tube attached the P10 now looks like a futuristic sniper rifle (this is the gamer in me talking).

The floor roller brush can rotate up to 90 degrees on each side for optimal cleaning results (it also has 4 LEDs at the front).

Turning the roller brush around we see two different types of brushes attached, soft (superficial cleaning) and firm (in-depth cleaning) ones.

Proscenic packs a mini motorized brush with the P10 which can be used with things like beds, pillows, tables and virtually everything you won't need the extension tube to reach.

TEST RESULTS

battery

Just like with robot vacuums all cordless handheld vacuum models will be thoroughly tested (for a duration of at least 20 days) to properly and accurately record/measure total battery life (using just the corner nozzle/flat suction) and noise levels (at around 50cm distance using the ExTech HD600 dBA meter) in all available modes.

* Since i didn't want only the P10 in the charts of this review i used the same charts of the robot vacuum ones (when more cordless models arrive i will start a new chart).

CONCLUSION

proscenic p10 review b

Just like many other manufacturers out there Proscenic claims that the P10 can last up to 48 minutes in standard mode (which according to Proscenic is set at 6500Pa) and up to 13 minutes in max mode (22000Pa) and even though i was unable to hit 13 minutes for the latter (up to 11 minutes tops through all my tests) i was actually able to hit 53 minutes for the former. Of course, standard mode is ideal primarily for sucking dust (perhaps even hair but that really depends on their length/weight) and not much else but still 53 minutes i real life use (without any of the two brushes attached) is pretty impressive, for a cordless vacuum with the size and performance numbers of the P10 that is. Design however although on one hand is great (if you’re a gamer that is) on the other it does add to the size and weight of the vacuum and even though nowhere near to that of regular vacuum cleaners still it might be just a tad much for some people. Noise levels are also a small issue, granted regular vacuums can be even louder but they are further away from your ears so the end result is not much different (and in high/ultra suction levels handheld vacuums are probably worse in that regard).

Following the same pricing strategy as most “good” models in the market the Proscenic P10 currently retails for USD199 inside the USA (Amazon.com - use code KXKX7APC on checkout for USD18 off / works on all Proscenic products) and for 199Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de). There’s also a limited time sale on the official Proscenic website (Here) for a price of USD159 which should make things even more appealing, at least for some potential buyers. All said and done the P10 cordless vacuum cleaner by Proscenic has it all, impressive suction power, very good battery life, rich bundle and even looks (although this depends on your taste) and for all of those it’s definitely worthy of our Golden Award.
