INTRODUCTION
I was never particularly fond of the summer season, when i was growing up because i didn't like sweating while working out (and in general) and later on because i got pets (hair nightmare, especially during the summer). Well, the former i could actually deal with, taking baths no less than 3 times a day certainly helps, the latter however is something that i haven't been able to resolve up to this day (and i probably never will). One thing that did help a lot however have been robot vacuum cleaners and even though they can't remove hair from my beds or couches they do a very good job cleaning the floors of both my house and office. Dreame has released numerous robot vacuum cleaners over the years and their Bot L10 Pro being one of their best models to date and that's what I’ll be talking about today.
Dreame Technology, established in 2017, is an innovative company with the vision to "enhance the living quality of global users". The Company focus on high-end cleaning appliances by leveraging astrodynamics technologies. At the end of 2017, Dreame joined the Xiaomi Ecological Chain, as the driving force and leading enterprise of smart household cleaning appliances. After years of hard work, Dreame has come up with a series of core inventions and over 150 core patents, such as the high-speed motor, monocular machine vision, SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) and the multi-cone cyclone separation, among which multiple patents are in a global leading position.
Just like with some of their other models the Bot L10 Pro by Dreame is available in black and white colors and is based on an LiDAR laser navigation sensor for 3D real time mapping together with two forward 3D obstacle avoidance sensors featuring an 8 meter detection range. Thanks to its brushless motor the Bot L10 produces a powerful suction of up to 4000Pa and as for sensors it features whatever you'd expect from a current model including pressure (doesn't force its way under furniture), anti-fall, anti-collision, carpet detection (automatically increases suction) and edge-cleaning ones. Dreame has also equipped the Bot L10 Pro with an 5200mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack which always according to them gives the device a total runtime of up to 150 minutes. Similar to other models by Xiaomi the Bot L10 Pro sports a single side brush together with an 570ml dust bin, 270ml electronically controlled water tank/mopping module (features suspension damping for optimal cleaning results), HEPA filter, WiFi 2.4GHz connectivity and support for smart home integration via voice commands (Amazon Alexa and/or Google Home). Once again in order to control the Bot L10 Pro you'll need to use the Xiaomi Home iOS/Android App which includes several functions/commands such as auto-clean, manual control, zone cleaning, virtual wall, spot cleaning, do not disturb (DND) mode, restricted area, and scheduling. Finally, just like with their other models Dreame covers their Bot L10 Pro with a 1-year limited warranty.
SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
PACKAGING AND CONTENTS
Dreame uses a dark grey box the front of which is taken by a large product picture and their logo.
4 pictures located on the sides are used to showcase the main product features.
Another product picture is printed at the rear of the box, just over the main product features and beneath the company logo.
The entire bundle is wrapped inside plastic bags and placed between 3 pieces of cardboard.
Along with the Bot L10 Pro inside the box you'll also find the water tank with a washable mop pad, side brush, charging station with its power cord, cutting tool (mounted inside the vacuum), quick start guide and the user manual.
THE BOT L10 PRO
The Dreame Bot L10 Pro weighs 3.7Kg and measures 350mm in diameter and 96.8mm in height.
As with most models the LDS laser is located at the top right next to the power on/off/start cleaning/stop cleaning, spot cleaning and return to base/dock buttons.
Typically, the top opens up to reveal the 570ml dust bin, reset button and the WiFi activity LED.
As expected, the dust bin opens open on one side and has a HEPA filter on the other.
At the front we find the two 3D obstacle avoidance sensors (at the rear we have the usual speaker/air outlet perforation).
Turning the Bot L10 Pro over we find two rubber wheels, main brush, 6 cliff sensors, side brush mount, charging contacts and the omni-directional wheel.
Attaching the water tank/mopping module is very easy, just slide it at the rear end as seen in the above picture.
270ml may not be much but the Bot L10 Pro makes up for that with its electronic control.
The black glossy charging base is nothing we haven't seen numerous times in the past.
XIAOMI HOME APP
The Xiaomi Home app has two setup modes, manual and automatic (searches for nearby Xiaomi devices).
If you'd like to share the device with friends and family you can easily do so from within the app.
Once the app has been installed it will search for new firmware updates.
From the main cleaning tab what clearly stands out the most are the cleaning settings which include 3 different cleaning modes, 4 suction settings and 3 water volume settings.
You can of course create virtual walls, no go zones and no mopping zones from the app.
Xiaomi allows you to change the time zone and enable/disable various options like obstacle avoidance, carpet boost, resume cleaning mode, child lock, DND mode and notifications.
There's also a very convenient scheduling tab available.
The cleaning history tab does just that, records the area, duration and total times the vacuum has been used.
You'll also know when to replace and clean the various accessories thanks to the above tab.
Via this app you can also use manual mode and manage the various locations/rooms.
Needless to say, you can also check for new firmware updates and place a password in order to use the device.
After using the vacuum for 12 times it finally completed the 3D map of my home.
TEST RESULTS
Robot Vacuums may be home appliances but they are very advanced ones so I thought about running some tests like I do with most electronic devices. So here you can see the maximum cleaned area during all tests (single pass, start to finish), total battery life (in quiet - standard/balanced - strong/max modes) and noise levels again in quiet - standard/balanced - strong/max suction modes.
CONCLUSION
Three things I noticed during the entire month I was using the Bot L10 Pro Robot Vacuum by Dreame, that it had no problem sucking hair and debris (very good cleaning results overall), that it was able to avoid more obstacles than many other models I’ve used (thus no unnecessary collisions left and right) and that it does very well in terms of battery life (up to 203 minutes in minimum mode). On the other hand, the single side brush leaves some debris on the floor (the vacuum does another pass and cleans everything up in the end – not having a spare brush in the bundle is what I wasn’t expecting) and the water tank was just large enough to cover my home once (at max water volume). So even though the Bot L10 Pro is clearly not the best all-around model in the market it’s certainly something I’d use at home and recommend to people I know.
Price is also something that matters however so just how much are you required to give in order to get your hands on the Dreame Bot L10 Pro? Well at the time of this review the Bot L10 Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner retails for 339.99Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de), a price which really isn’t much for one such product. The only thing I don’t agree with however is the warranty period and with just 1 year I really think Dreame needs to up their game in that regard. That being said the Bolt L10 Pro may not be the best robot vacuum cleaner in the market today but still it produced very good results and for that it deserves the Golden Award.
