INTRODUCTION
Winter is probably my favourite season, not only due to the fact that all my systems hit much lower temperatures but also because my cats don't shed nearly as much hair as they do in the summer. Still even though they shed less hair having 4 cats at home means that they still shed quite a bit (aside messing up everything) and since i don't have enough time (or the mood for that matter) to spend cleaning every single day I’m always open to testing new cordless vacuum cleaners which could help make things easier for me (same with robot vacuum cleaners). Ever since Tineco send over their very good Pure One S5 Wet & Dry vacuum i wanted to test their smart cordless vacuum sticks and so late last year they surprised me by sending over their latest and one of their top two models, the Pure One S15 Pet.
Founded in 1998, Tineco dedicates itself to the engineering of premium household electronics that are helpful, easy to use, and smart. With over two decades of experience in the home cleaning industry, Tineco never stops innovating and is ready to create an easy smart life for everyone. For more information, please visit https://www.tineco.com.
The Pure One S15 Pet is 2nd only to Tineco's S15 Pro model (offers a more detailed LCD screen) and for good or bad both are not available in every country Tineco has a presence (for example in France Tineco only sells the S15 Pet, at least from their website). Thanks to a rather powerful 500W brushless motor which can spin up to 125.000RPM the Pure One S15 Pet by Tineco can produce just over 22.000Pa (120W) of suction power either in auto via the iLoop sensor (18-120W) or max mode (120W). Also, according to Tineco thanks to its zero-tangle technology and V-shaped bristles the Pure One S15 Pet is ideal for gathering pet hair something which i plan on testing out quite a bit. Other features of the Pure One S15 Ped include a color LCD screen (mode, battery life, WiFi connection and dust level ring), 470ml removable dust bin, 5-stage filtration system (cleans up to 99.9% of particles), purecyclone self-cleaning system, 3 brushes (2 powered), LED nozzle tip for the main brush, floor charging dock and a removable 2500mAh (55.5Wh) lithium-polymer battery pack which can power the Pure One S15 Pet continuously for up to 40 minutes (in auto mode). So, let's see if the Pure One S15 Pet is really the cordless vacuum to get if you have pets at home.
SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
PACKAGING AND CONTENTS
Tineco uses a plain cardboard box to ship the S15 Pet inside the front of which is typically taken by a product drawing and their logo.
Drawings of the entire bundle are placed on the left side.
The quick start guide is the first thing you'll see once you open the box.
As you can see the entire bundle is placed inside two thick pieces of cardboard (and wrapped in plastic bags).
So, inside the box you'll find the Pure One S15 Pet (main body with two tubes, a plastic and an aluminum one), charging base, power adapter, main power brush, mini power brush, 2 in 1 dusting brush, crevice tool, hair cleaning tool, extra pre-filter and the user manual.
THE PURE ONE S15 PET
For the main body of the Pure One S15 Pet Tineco has used plastic, aluminum and rubber (only comes in black and white color).
The dustbin is located just under the filtration system and is 470ml in capacity.
To clean the dust bin just pop it up as seen above via the front button.
The pre-filter is basically what you can remove from inside the dust bin.
Tineco made it easier for the end user to clean the dust bin by adding a lever (one touch trigger) at the rear which you just push downwards.
Moving at the top we find the LCD screen which can be used to check the current mode, battery life, dirt amount (iLoop sensor), WiFi status and various cleaning alerts.
The button which switches from auto to max mode is placed right next to it.
Another filter is located at the rear of the handle and you might be surprised to learn that it's magnetically attached.
Forgot to mention that the on/off button (this actually is like a trigger) is located next to the one touch trigger.
Further down we find the rechargeable battery pack which can be removed by pressing the buttons on both sides and then pulling backwards.
This is an 2500mAh, 55.5Wh lithium-ion battery pack.
The main power brush may not be something we haven't seen in the past but the 4 forward LEDs do stand out.
Of course, the V-shaped bristles do stand out as well, especially when you pull the cleaning brush out.
Typically, the mini powered brush is something we see a lot and even though not as special it does help clean sofas, chairs and even beds.
The tubes are made out of plastic and aluminum and even though they look good in regards to quality white is not really my color.
Moving to the charging base/dock it's sufficiently heavy and large that the Pure One S15 Pet will never fall.
To use the charging base/dock you will have to pull the charging piece upwards as seen above.
I may not like the color combination Tineco has used but the Pure One S15 Pet does look nice.
The top LCD screen is very large and easy to read and as for the rechargeable battery pack it has a status/charging LED on its right side.
TINECO LIFE APP
If you want more control over the Pure One S15 Pet you can always use the Tineco Life Android/iOS app.
Adding the Pure One S15 Pet takes less than a minute.
Once you do you can select the Pure One S15 Pet from the welcome screen.
So, from within the app, you can check to see how long you've used the vacuum and how much space you've cleaned, check the status of the filter, change the mode (auto/max) and even created a cleaning plan.
From the settings tab you can change/edit the name of the vacuum and get help and/or send feedback for it.
TEST RESULTS
Just like with robot vacuums all cordless handheld vacuum models will be thoroughly tested (for a duration of at least 20 days) to properly and accurately record/measure total battery life (using just the corner nozzle/flat suction tip for cordless vacuum sticks) and noise levels (from around 50cm distance using the ExTech HD600 dBA meter) in all available modes.
CONCLUSION
Even though the Pure One S15 line of cordless vacuum sticks by Tineco was released in mid-2022 it has become one of their most popular ones to date and that applies especially to the Pet model which i ended up testing since early December. It offers almost excellent suction power and indeed does a very good job with pet hair (cat hair in my case). Leaving out the color combination Tineco chose for it the Pure One S15 Pet also looks great (the top LCD screen certainly helps) and is made out durable materials overall. Emptying the dust bin (which unfortunately is not exactly large) is a breeze thanks to the one tough trigger (still i do recommend emptying it before it fills up completely for the best possible results). The charging base/dock although it does require floor space (unlike wall mounts) it could be a better option for people who just don’t want to drill holes into a wall just for their cordless vacuum. Of course, not all is great, for example battery life although quite good it certainly could be better (10 minutes at max and up to 36 in auto - auto battery life depends on ground dirt so you might get more or less) and the same applies for the just 2 available modes (again, auto and max) something which i personally don’t understand how it came to pass by the product development team over at Tineco. The 4-5 modes I’ve seen with other cordless vacuum sticks may indeed not be needed but i do feel that end users should be able to choose between auto, mid and max, not only would that offer constant suction power (compared to auto) and longer battery life but less noise levels as well (compared to max). Finally, i might be nitpicking but i do think that a high-end model like the Pure One S15 Pet should have a 90-degree bendable tube in order to fit under tall beds and sofas with ease (this is a model made for pet owners after all).
Retailing currently for USD499.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 519.97Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) the Pure One S15 Pet Cordless Vacuum by Tineco is by no means a low-cost model. Still there are several cordless vacuum sticks out there that cost even more so i wouldn’t be quite fair if i didn’t point that out. That being said even though the Pure One S15 Pet is not quite perfect it’s certainly a lot better than what most of Tineco’s competition have to offer (especially for people with pets) and for that it gets the Platinum Award.
