zendure supertank pro review a

Winter is almost upon us (wondering how much it will last this year) and as always this is the season when many of us go hiking and/or camping in the mountains with friends and family. This means that soon most of us will need to start gathering supplies for those trips and well, as expected these supplies also include electronic devices like power banks and LED torches/flashlights. Many years ago, I did a couple reviews for a brand new name in the market called Zendure and since many of you have recently asked for reviews of high capacity powerbanks I decided to reach out and ask to test their best-selling SuperTank Pro model.

Founded in 2017, Zendure is one of the fastest-growing EnergyTech start-ups located in the technology hubs of Silicon Valley, USA, and the Greater Bay Area, China, Japan, and Germany. Our purpose to accelerate a sustainable future. Our mission is to deliver reliable and affordable clean energy for households worldwide by popularizing the latest EnergyTech. Our envision is being a Clean EnergyTech platform that sustains communities and families.

As the name suggests the SuperTank Pro is an improved version of the SuperTank model which I reviewed way too long ago (almost a year prior to the release of the pro version). Unfortunately, unlike the SuperTank model which was available in black, silver and blue colors the new SuperTank Pro model is only available in silver. Inside the silver anodized aluminum enclosure of the SuperTank Pro Zendure has placed Samsung explosion-proof rechargeable lithium polymer battery cells (my samples arrived with lithium-ion 20 cells but there's a lithium-polymer version available as well) adding to a total of 26.800mAh (96.48Wh / 9 layer safety protection - TSA/EASA compliant), dual NTC thermistor sensors (overheating protection), transient voltage suppressors for each port (ESD protection), OLED screen, two USB-C PD 100W input/output ports (enough juice even for laptop use), two USB-C 20W output ports, and built-in flash memory for possible firmware updates (samples arrived with firmware version 1.2.6). Since the SuperTank Pro already counts almost 4 years in the market I expect Zendure to have resolved any possible issues so let's see what it's capable of.

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

As usual at the front of the box we find the company logo, large product picture and the main features.

On the right side of the box Zendure showcases the OLED screen.

The main features are also listed on the left side.

At the rear we find 4 product pictures and the main product features and specifications.

Once you open the box, you'll see that the entire bundle is placed inside a hard carrying/storage case.

Along with the SuperTank Pro inside the hard case you'll also find an USB-C cable (black or white would honestly look better), USB-C to USB-A adapter, six stickers, warranty paper and the user manual.

THE SUPERTANK PRO

zendure supertank pro review 7t

The anodized aluminum body of the SuperTank Pro weighs 565g and measures 124mm in length, 74.5mm in width and 45.5mm in thickness.

As with the first SuperTank the SuperTank Pro has both its OLED screen and 4 USB-C ports at the front/top.

On the right side we find the button with which you can turn on the OLED screen to check the status of the SuperTank Pro (also used to reset the battery and initiate firmware update).

Zendure has used a 3-line OLED screen so you can see the current battery charge (i was somewhat surprised to see that my sample arrived with just 0.1% charge from the factory) and what all 4 outputs are receiving (C1/C2) or sending out (C3/C4).

At the base/rear of the anodized aluminum enclosure Zendure lists the battery capacity, rated capacity, outputs and several certifications.

Again, the hard storage/carrying case is big enough for the entire bundle.

CONCLUSION

zendure supertank pro review b

Been using the SuperTank Pro for almost 40 days now with my smartphones, portable speakers and music players and it's easily among the best powerbanks I've used to date. Yes, it's not the highest capacity one but it looks and feels great, delivers up to 140W for up to 4 connected devices (1x100W/2x20W) and the OLED screen is very handy at times. Speaking of capacity Zendure reports a rated output of 17.000mAh (this isn't a number most manufacturers share with consumers) which is more or less on the spot and exactly what I'd expect from a 26.800mAh powerbank after battery to USB conversion is taken into account. Still, this is far from a bad number, for example I was able to fully recharge the M23 music player by FiiO 3 times and there was still around 10% battery left in the SuperTank Pro. Likewise I was able to recharge my Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro almost 4 full times so again, 17k mAh should be more than enough to keep your mobile devices running for about a week (although that depends on usage). Build quality is also very good across the board and even though the enclosure of the SuperTank Pro is not rugged it's still quite durable. In regards to firmware updates my lithium-ion samples arrived with v1.2.6 installed and well, at the time of this review I couldn't even find that version available online let alone a newer one (different firmware for the lithium ion and lithium polymer models).

Currently the SuperTank Pro power bank by Zendure retails for USD169.99 inside the USA and Canada directly from their online store (Zendure.com) and well, it’s quite balanced for what you’re getting in return. Again, the SuperTank Pro may not be the highest capacity model around but thanks to its design, build quality and features it’s definitely worth the Golden Award.
