vtoman flashspeed 1500 power station review a

Whether you enjoy going on camping trips or you just need backup power for your home or office a portable power station can be an invaluable tool. Between all the manufacturers, models available in the market and different types of batteries making up your mind about which model to get may not be the easiest thing however, especially since good models don't come cheap. VTOMAN may not be the very first name to come to mind when considering which power station to get but they have released some award winning models to date, and the FlashSpeed 1500 SuperSafe LIFEBMS Power Station is among them.

VTOMAN is a global leader in delivering versatile power sources, empowering individuals and communities to master new energy their way. Founded by a team of engineers and scientists with 15 years of expertise in battery and renewable energy, we are dedicated to creating innovative, sustainable energy solutions that enable people to take control of their energy future. As a beacon of innovation in the portable power solutions industry, VTOMAN makes sustainable energy lifestyles accessible to all.

The FlashSpeed 1500 is a pure sine wave model featuring a maximum supported power output of 1500W (3000W peak) and a lithium-ion battery capacity of 1.548Wh. Instead of using the previous generation Ternary lithium battery cells VTOMAN is using the newest LFP (LiFePO4) ones that have a lifespan of over 10 years, offer over 3000+ charge cycles and in this model can be recharged up to 100% after just 1 hour (400W AC input). Also, thanks to the LifeBMS advanced battery management system the FlashSpeed 1500 features 10 different protections (overheat, overcharge, short circuit, excessive current, over-discharge, overvoltage, overload, spart prevention, reverse polarity and real time monitoring) and as for extra functions not only can you expand its battery capacity, but you can also use it to jump start your car. Needless to say, the FlashSpeed 1500 comes ready with a real time LCD display and as for available ports it sports three AC outlets (1500W), DC 12V/10A car lighter output, DC5521 12V/10A port, 4 USB-A ports (1x18W and 3x3.5V/2.4A ports), two PD 100W USB-C ports (200W total), and the jumper cable port. Regarding warranty I was pleasantly surprised to see that VTOMAN covers the FlashSpeed 1500 with a 5-year limited one.

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

Typically, the FlashSpeed 1500 arrived inside a large box that has the company logo at the front along with a product picture and the battery capacity and output.

The specifications table is printed on the left side of the box.

As usual the power station is placed between two thick pieces of foam.

Along with the FlashSpeed 1500 and its power cord inside the box you'll also find a car lighter cable, USB-C charging cable, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, several stickers, friendly tips paper and the user manual (surprised to see there's no jump starter cable in the package).

THE FLASHSPEED 1500

The 18.8Kg heavy FlashSpeed 1500 power station measures 393mm in length, 280mm in height and 270mm in width.

All available connectors are located at the front starting from the power input port, DC5521 12V/10A port, DC 12V/10A car lighter output, 4 USB-A ports (1x18W and 3x3.5V/2.4A ports), two PD 100W USB-C ports (200W total), three AC outlets (1500W) and the jumper port.

The LCD screen informs the end user about current battery charge, remaining battery life, power output and output type (AC/DC).

Just like every high capacity power station out there the FlashSpeed 1500 is actively cooled and so it has a single 80mm fan on the left side.

VTOMAN has also placed non-slip handles on both sides for easier carrying.

A small storage area is located on top of the FlashSpeed 1500 and as you can see it's enough to store 4-5 smartphones in it.

Moving at the rear we find a LED torch with its on/off button and the product specifications right under it.

TESTING METHODOLOGY

In order to cover a wide range of electrical and electronic devices i decided that I’ll be using 3 different ones to test portable power stations, the VEVOR SH-C22 Bluetooth car refrigerator (DC, around 45W consumption - not continuous), Delonghi Aria Dry Light dehumidifier (AC, around 662W consumption) and a generic air cleaner (AC, around 55W consumption). Of course, my ExTech HD600 dBA meter will also be used at around 10cm away from each portable power station to record the maximum noise coming from the built-in fan/s.

CONCLUSION

vtoman flashspeed 1500 power station review b

VTOMAN is a name I came across roughly 3 months ago but even if it’s not among the leading portable power station manufacturers their FlashSpeed 1500 model actually did extremely well. Yes, it seems that battery life is not that much different between similar models, but the FlashSpeed 1500 is not only based on LiFePO4 battery cells, it’s also safeguarded by a large number of protections and offers numerous outputs including 3 AC outlets, 2 DC outputs, 4 USB-A outputs, 2 USB-C PD100W outputs and even a jump starter output. Unfortunately, VTOMAN doesn’t bundle the jumper cables with the FlashSpeed 1500 and honestly, I hope they start doing so, it makes very little sense for this model to have such a port but having to purchase the cables separately. Regarding noise levels while in AC operation the FlashSpeed 1500 outputs around 52dBA but when recharging that number ups to around 62dBA and well, it’s a bit too much (still it’s not like you have to be close to it while recharging).

At the time of this review the FlashSpeed 1500 power station by VTOMAN retails for just USD568.98 inside the USA (Amazon.com - or USD520 directly from VTOMAN with code VNEW) and for 561.75Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de via 10% coupon available currently). Again, my sole concern with the FlashSpeed 1500 is the lack of jump starter cables (also perhaps noise levels while recharging) but other than that it checks out and for that it deserves the Golden Award.
