INTRODUCTION

Even though power banks and power stations are nowhere close to being similar in size and their usage varies quite a bit (for the most part, not even going into cost) there are many people out there debating which is better to have. Leaving out size which is very important (not easy to carry a power station around with you) it all comes down to what you want to be able to power and so the larger the device, the larger your portable battery must be. Still there are some companies that are looking to find the sweet spot between size, electrical output and battery capacity which is why today I'm testing what could be just that, the TX-205 MINI Power Station by Technaxx.
Technaxx is a German manufacturer of solar / energy saving products, multimedia, security and lifestyle products as well as car accessories with its headquarters in Schöneck. We have been on the market since 2002. We develop trendy and effective technical solutions in a modern design, but with multifunctional, temporal and monetary advantages. We are committed to developing new, effective technical solutions that are easy to use, because functional devices can be used for a wide variety of purposes at the same time and are space-saving. Through our commitment to simplicity, multifunctionality, quality and constant innovation, we value saving time and money in order to be able to enjoy life.
The TX-205 is a modified sinewave mini power station by Technaxx that supports a maximum supported power output of 80W (120W peak) and sports a lithium-ion battery capacity of 74Wh/20.000mAh complete with numerous electrical protections (short circuit, overheating, overcharge, overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent). It also features a tiny LED panel (90/120 lumen), single power socket, dual LED torch (1W/120 Lumen), 4 USB-A charging ports (2x5V/2.4A, 2x5-12V/2A 18W), USB-C charging port (5V/3A - 9V/2A - 12V/1.5A - PD 2.0 18W) and a DC output (12-16.8V/10A) complete with an car lighter adapter.
SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS
A product picture is placed at the front of the box along with the company logo and the main product features.

6 product pictures showcasing the main features are placed on both sides.
The product features and specifications are printed at the rear in 8 languages.
Packing is good with the battery placed inside a formed piece of cardboard.
Inside the box you'll find the TX-205 MINI power station with its power adapter, DC to cigar lighter adapter and the user manual.
THE TX-205
The 1.2Kg heavy TX-205 is a very compact power station that measures just 145mm in length, 105mm in height and 77mm in width.
At the front we find 4 buttons (LED torch on/off/mode, AC on/off, on/off power button, LED panel on/off/brightness) and a battery level indicator between them.
All available outputs (4 USB-A ports, USB-C port, DC port and the power socket) and the LED panel are all located on top of the TX-205.
There are 4 rubber feet on the right side of the enclosure so you can have the TX-205 either horizontally or vertically.
At the front we find the two LED torches with the power input (you can use either the bundled power adapter or a solar panel here).
Turning the enclosure around we find a small exhaust (passive cooling).
TESTING METHODOLOGY
In order to cover a wide range of electrical and electronic devices i decided that I’ll be using 3 different ones to test portable power stations, the VEVOR SH-C22 Bluetooth car refrigerator (DC, around 45W consumption - not continuous), Delonghi Aria Dry Light dehumidifier (AC, around 662W consumption) and a generic air cleaner (AC, around 55W consumption). Of course, my ExTech HD600 dBA meter will also be used at around 10cm away from each portable power station to record the maximum noise coming from the built-in fan/s.
TEST RESULTS

CONCLUSION

The TX-205 may be a low-capacity power station with a rather limited power output but it’s still a power station and thanks to that it can be used to power both AC and DC electrical devices. 80/120W and 20.000mAh may be too little yes, but again, you can use it to power many more devices than a typical powerbank. It’s also very compact and packs not one, not two but 3 LED lights (panel & 2 torch ones) which could come in handy in dark places. Having a total of 6 USB charging ports is also good as is the cigar lighter adapter included in the bundle. The lack of an internal fan (active cooling) could become an issue over time (especially during the summer) but at least during the time I used it I encountered nothing of the sort.
Right now, the TX-205 MINI power station by Technaxx retails for just 109Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) and well, it’s worth every cent. Again, it may not compare with a full sized power station, but it easily takes on most powerbanks out there and since it’s also priced extremely well it gets the Golden Award.
