We're literally days away from the unveiling of the latest graphics cards by AMD and NVIDIA and people all over the world have already begun updating their systems with brand new power supply units. Unfortunately, today alone I've seen many people upgrade their systems to non ATX 3.0/3.1 & PCIe 5.0/5.1 compliant models and well, since you're spending your money for something new why not pay for something that's actually new? So, what better way to start the new year by testing one of the best power supply units released by Seasonic to date, the VERTEX PX-1200 Azure Dragon Limited Edition model (12122PXAFS-WHVER).

Sea Sonic Electronics Co., Ltd was founded more than 40 years ago by engineers. Since its early beginnings the company has rigorously maintained its focus on the research, development and production of technologically advanced, high quality products. In 1981 Sea Sonic expanded into the production of PC power supplies to become one of the first manufacturers in this market. Soon after, the manufacturing of high quality and performance PC power supplies became the core identity of Sea Sonic.

Just like the VERTEX GX-1000 Sakura power supply unit the VERTEX PX-1200 Azure Dragon model is also a limited edition model this time however featuring a Chinese theme taken from their mythology depicting one of their Dragon Gods and constellation symbol (Qinglong - Azure Dragon) which also happens to represent the East and the Spring season. Theme aside the VERTEX PX-1200 Azure Dragon is a fully modular ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 compliant power supply unit that sports the 80 PLUS Platinum certification (up to 92% electrical efficiency at 50% load) and is equipped with an 12V-2X6 power connector (600W) and three 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors. It also features a single powerful +12V rail (100A) capable of delivering 100% of the units’ total power output (1200W), peak power output of no less than 1343W (peak should now be up to around 2.7KW for up to 100ms - once again however this is not something I can test), full-bridge LLC with DC to DC design, active PFC, hybrid silent fan control, high-quality Japanese capacitors certified for use up to 105 degrees Celsius and a full array of electrical protections including over-current (OCP), over-voltage (OVP), under-voltage (UVP), short-circuit (SCP), over-temperature (OTP) and over-power (OPP). Finally, Seasonic once again is very generous with their warranty and so the VERTEX PX-1200 Azure Dragon is covered by a 12-year limited one.
