CONCLUSION
The Revenger S Optical Gaming Mouse arrived at the same time as several other models so it took slightly longer for us to finish this review since we tested all of them with our usual game selection (World of Tanks, World of Warships, Star Citizen, Dreadnought, Elite Dangerous and Warframe). First of all we liked the slightly redesigned housing of the new Revenger S compared to that of the original Revenger since it offers even better grip. The same goes with the PMW3360 optical sensor by Pixart since it’s not only one of the fastest in the market today but also one of the most accurate ones (as we’ve seen with other gaming mice as well). Testing the 2000Hz polling rate feature on 3 different monitors (30/35/40”) took some time but we didn’t encounter any noticeable improvement compared to 1000Hz (we’re not professional gamers but there’s nothing wrong with having an edge in games even if you don’t see it). Again the 2 zone RGB lighting system may not be the most impressive one out there (the rear zone on the original Revenger was actually better) but that’s not a game breaker. Our sole problem with the Revenger S is its weight since at 94g it’s roughly 26g lighter compared to its predecessor. Now this may not be a bad thing for some people but at least to me the Revenger S felt too light and took a few hours to get used to (still a bit heavier would be ideal).
With a current price tag set at USD49.99 inside the USA (Amazon) and for 63Euros inside the EU (Amazon UK) the brand new Revenger S Optical Gaming Mouse by COUGAR actually costs less compared to its predecessor. Of course for owners of the original Revenger the brand new Revenger S may not seem like a significant upgrade but for everyone else it does offer a very good price/performance ratio and even though it’s far from perfect it’s still definitely worth our Golden Award.
