INTRODUCTION
In our book there are four things that currently define a good gaming mouse the optical/LED sensor used, its grip (size/design), number of programmable buttons and last but not least it's lighting/illumination system. Now as we always point out in our reviews one mouse is hardly ever ideal for every PC game genre out there so you always need to know exactly what titles (FPS/RTS/MMO) you'll be using one with (at least primarily) in order to pick the right one for the job. Lighting of course plays no role at all when it comes to tracking performance but it's always good to have something that looks unique on our desk and lately we've seen numerous gaming mice that fit that description including the ZEUS P1 RGB Optical Gaming Mouse by GAMDIAS which has been with us for almost 20 days now.
GAMDIAS emphasizes on the fundamentals, complemented with creativity and service. GAMDIAS Technology was founded in 2012, successfully creating the gaming brand known as GAMDIAS. Not only do we aim to set the bar for quality and practically, but also to go above and beyond in our designs. Further supplementing our motto: Gaming Art in Motion, we will continue to invest heavily on designs, transcending GAMDIAS products to an artistic pantheon.
The ZEUS P1 RGB Optical Gaming Mouse by GAMDIAS may not be among the latest models to hit the market (launched in early 2017) but it doesn't seem to have anything to fear from all the newer models. To be more specific GAMDIAS has equipped the ZEUS P1 RGB with Pixart's PMW3336 optical sensor (modified version that features a resolution of 12.000DPI with up to 300IPS tracking speed, 40G acceleration and 1000Hz polling rate), 8 programmable/smart buttons (red and white Huano switches certified for up to 20 million clicks), double-level RGB customizable streaming lighting (13 LEDs with 5 effects and 4 brightness levels), 1.8 meter long braided cable with a gold plated USB plug, 32-bit ARM processor and two Holtek 8-bit high performance RISC architecture microcontrollers. Finally via their popular HERA software you can also record and assign macros, timers and alarms to the buttons of the ZEUS P1 RGB.
SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
PACKAGING AND CONTENTS
Several product pictures are located at the front of the box and are surrounded with the main product features and the company logo.
The product specifications are listed on the left side of the box.
Another product picture this time placed at the rear is used to showcase the main product features which are printed underneath it in 12 languages.
Inside the package we just found the ZEUS P1 RGB optical gaming mouse and the quick installation guide.
THE ZEUS P1 RGB
The ZEUS P1 RGB Gaming Mouse is yet another medium sized model since it weighs 125g (without the cable) and measures 127.26mm in length, 72.45mm in width and 40.85mm in height.
To showcase its size we've placed the ZEUS P1 RGB next to the RIVAL 600, NEMESIS and Revenger S gaming mice.
A rubberized textured area is placed on the left side right beneath two programmable buttons and between the dual-stream RGB lighting system (top/bottom).
The GAMDIAS logo is placed at the rear of the mouse and is also RGB illuminated.
A second rubberized textured area is placed on the right side of the enclosure.
At the top we find the DPI preset buttons (6 available presets) and an extra button further back.
The clickable scroll wheel is also illuminated and rubber coated.
Three PTFE feet and the optical sensor lens are the things we see at the bottom of the mouse.
HERA SOFTWARE
As always you can find the latest install and portable HERA software versions from the GAMDIAS support page as seen above.
From the performance end of the HERA software you can program all 8 buttons, create macros, set the cursor/vertical scroll/double click speed and adjust the DPI presets and polling rate.
You can also adjust the brightness levels of the RGB system, set the speed and direction for the 5 available effects and of course change colors for all 13 LEDs.
The HERA software also allows you to assign timers and sound clips to the buttons of the ZEUS P1 RGB.
Here you can see the double-level RGB customizable streaming lighting in all its glory.
CONCLUSION
GAMDIAS may not be the most popular gaming peripheral manufacturer in the market today but their products always deliver on what they promise. The ZEUS P1 RGB Optical Gaming Mouse is one such product and although its design is not the easiest to get used to (looks and actually is very simple but it’s a bit taller than most mice) the PMW3336 optical sensor is very fast and accurate while the dual-stream RGB lighting system is certainly among the best looking ones in the market today. Also even though the ZEUS P1 RGB is a rather heavy mouse (125g without the cable) it has near excellent gliding properties (although not as good as the RIVAL 600). Overall we have nothing really bad to say about the ZEUS P1 RGB (aside taking a few hours to get used to due to its height/design) not after using it for almost a whole month with our usual game selection (World of Tanks, World of Warships, Star Citizen, Dreadnought, Elite Dangerous and Warframe).
Since the GAMDIAS ZEUS P1 RGB has been in the market for over a year already it’s even more affordable than it was at launch and so it currently retails for just USD22.66 inside the USA (Amazon.com - offer) and for 42Euros inside the EU (Amazon.co.uk). With this in mind if you’re looking for an affordable gaming mouse that’s fast, accurate and looks great and you happen to be living in the US you really should hurry up and get your hands on the ZEUS P1 RGB Optical Gaming Mouse which also gets our Golden Award.
