Much like most people I know as far back as i can recall i always liked big LCD TVs and Monitors, at least as big as my wallet allowed me. Since however I’ve spent countless hours more in front of LCD monitors than LCD TVs it's no wonder that by 2010 i already had 27" and 30" models in the office. This has been both good and bad for me, good because right now I’m working in front of 49", 38" and 3x27" LCD monitors and bad because honestly there's no turning back to smaller displays for me. Yes, smaller displays can produce higher refresh rates (and thus FPS) but for good or bad having spent at least 20 years of my life with 50/60Hz screens i can do without those if needed. Well, that's actually a good thing today since with me i have the brand new ODRAZ 32" 4K Flat Gaming Monitor (YMG-4K32-01) by Yeyian.

Yeyian Gaming is a leading manufacturer of cutting-edge technology solutions for gamers, creators, and PC enthusiasts. Its innovative technology delivers award-winning solutions to the community worldwide through creator PCs, gaming PCs, monitors, computer components, gaming furniture and peripherals. Yeyian Gaming was founded in 2017 in San Diego, California. Its philosophy is to develop innovative technology products with high reliability and high performance. The goal is to provide its customers with unrivalled user experiences and exceptional customer service and remain at the forefront of the gaming community.

The Yeyian ODRAZ 32 inch widescreen (16:9, 81.4cm diagonal) LCD monitor sports a 10bit (8bit + FRC probably) IPS LED backlit panel (anti-glare/matte finish) which sports a maximum resolution of 3840x2160p (4K) with a refresh rate of 60Hz and 178 degrees viewing angles. Based on the specs sheet provided by Yeyian the ODRAZ 32" model delivers an sRGB color gamut of 99% and features a contrast ratio of 1000:1, 350cd/m2 brightness, 4ms response time (G2G - probably via Overdrive), HDR 10 support, Low Blue Light and Flicker Less technologies, adaptive sync (AMD FreeSync & NVIDIA GSync compatible), dual rear RGB LEDs (rainbow effect) and built-in stereo speakers (2x3W). As for available connections, the ODRAZ 32" model comes ready with a single DP port (v1.4), two HDMI ports (v1.4), USB port and a 3.5mm audio output (can be used with speakers and headsets). Finally, Yeyian has used a rather small metal stand for their ODRAZ 32" model that just has tilt function (5/-15 degrees) and VESA mount compatibility (100x100mm). So, let's see if Yeyian is a brand name worth considering for your new LCD monitor.

SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

yeyian odraz ymg 4k32 01 review 1t

Yeyian uses a gray and green box the front of which is taken by their logo, large product picture and some of its features.

The main product features are also listed on the left side of the box.

Turning the box around we find two extra product pictures, the specifications table, bundle contents and country of origin.

Along with the screen inside the box you'll also find a wall charger, charging cord, HDMI cable, two-piece base, large screw and a quick-start guide.

THE ODRAZ 32"

The ODRAZ 32" 4k Flat Gaming Monitor by Yeyian sports a semi bezel-less design and has a diagonal of 81.4cm.

As with all screens first step is to gently place the screen face down and attach the stand.

Instead of using screws modern LCD monitors use a clip design for their stands so no problems here.

The single bundled screw is used to attach the metal base onto the mount as seen above.

Personally, i do prefer curved screens but i know many people who prefer flat ones so the ODRAZ 32" obviously has a specific target audience.

Unfortunately, the stand is not height adjustable so if you don't like the default position of the screen i recommend getting a wall mount (VESA 100x100).

To be more specific the screen stands 103mm from your desk so this might be ideal to some but not to others.

I did mention the ODRAZ 32" has a semi bezel-less design and so both the top and the sides have roughly 1.5mm bezels whereas the bottom one is almost 19mm.

5 control buttons are located beneath the bottom bezel and are also tagged.

Yeyian has placed the product information sticker on the exact opposite side of the buttons.

It may not be height adjustable but the stand is tilt adjustable (5/-15 degrees).

At the rear of the screen, we find two vertical RGB LED bars (left and right) and a Kensington lock.

Of course, here we also find the various ports such as the power port, USB port, 2 HDMI v1.4 ports, DP v1.4 port and a 3.5mm audio out.

ODRAZE 32" MENUS

Yeyian claims that by default the menus are in English which is not completely accurate (it's a mix of English and Spanish - sample issue?).

With that out of the way from the OSD menu you can adjust pretty much all the things you'd expect starting with the brightness, contrast, black levels, eco mode, DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) and HDR (high dynamic range).

You can also change the aspect ratio, enable/disable the flicker free function, set the color and low-blue light, adjust the OSD settings, turn on/off the rear RGB LEDs, reset the monitor to its factory settings, change the input, adjust the volume of the stereo speakers (or mute them) and finally you can enable/disable adaptive sync and overdrive.

Above you can see just how the rear RGB LEDs look when enabled (not nearly bright enough to light up the wall behind your screen however).

VIEWING ANGLES / PICTURE QUALITY

yeyian odraz ymg 4k32 01 review 32t

The ODRAZ 32” is an 4k HDR model so in terms of picture quality things are very good across the board with vibrant colors and crisp picture.

Viewing angles are just what you’d expect from an IPS screen and since this also happens to be a flat and not a curved model things are even better.

When using the ODRAZ 32” with fast passed games like Battlefield 2042 and COD Modern Warfare you may notice some slight ghosting if you look very closely but overall, i had no issues with this (60Hz however may not be for everyone).

TEST RESULTS

DATACOLOR SPYDERX ELITE MEASUREMENTS

By using the SpyderX Elite Colorimeter by Datacolor i measure both the color gamut (SRGB and Adobe) and the brightness levels of the monitor at hand.

Here you can see results for Color and Luminance Screen Uniformity (instead of just listing results at 100% brightness I’m listing all of them - 50/67/83/100%).

Datacolor rates monitors based on their overall results so it was decided to include this chart as well.

POWER CONSUMPTION

Power consumption may not be what most people look for when out to get a brand new monitor but at the end of the day it's still an important factor so i do hope this is of interest to some of you.

CONCLUSION

yeyian odraz ymg 4k32 01 review b

Even though during the entire 2 weeks I spend with the ODRAZ 32” 4K Flat Gaming Monitor by Yeyian i didn’t come up with any issues (picture quality is very good and both the adaptive sync and flicker free features work as intended) it’s clear from the uniformity tests that things could be better in that regard. Again, this isn’t something you’ll notice while gaming but it’s something that did deduct a few points from the end result (rating) of this monitor so i do feel i need to address it. Of course, being one of the very first products by Yeyian i think that they’ll do even better with future models (and there’s always the chance that this is an isolated issue with my sample). As mentioned earlier if you’re used to playing games at well above 120Hz (FPS) then a 60Hz LCD monitor will probably not be for you. If, however you’re not used to such a thing and you put size and resolution above all else then 4k at 32 inches is a very good combination. Now i have to admit that i was slightly disappointed with the stand Yeyian has bundled with the ODRAZE 32” (overall quality of the plastics used could also be better) but you can easily resolve this by using a wall mount instead (they are quite affordable after all). It also happens that i used the built-in stereo speakers of the ODRAZ 32” for a couple of hours and even though i wouldn’t use them for gaming they did quite well for basic things like music playback and YouTube. The rear RGB LEDs are a good touch but not bright enough to make a real difference (and i doubt many people will have their monitor facing at another person instead of their wall).

Price is what usually makes or breaks products by newcomers like Yeyian and so i was glad to see that the ODRAZ 32” 4k Flat Gaming Monitor currently retails for USD299 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for around 370Euros inside the EU. Yes, things may not be as good on this side of the Atlantic (what’s new?) but if you live on the other side things couldn’t get much better than this (and from what i see Yeyian runs offers quite often so you may be able to get it for even less). At the end of the day the ODRAZ 32” by Yeyian may not be the perfect 4K LCD monitor but it does offer a good enough price/performance ratio for the Golden Award.
