be quiet dark base pro 901 review a

Due to space restrictions being a serious issue for most consumers it's no wonder that most PC case manufacturers focus their resources in the design and manufacture of compact/mini and midi towers. Space is an issue for me too (especially when having 4-5 test rigs and 2 cockpits at any given time in the lab) but even so i always prefer full/super towers for all my test rigs, at least as long as their design suits my taste. Luckily there are some exceptions in the market, some manufacturers who keep updating their full/super tower lines and since be quiet! is among them today with me i have their latest Dark Base Pro 901 model.

be quiet! is a German premium brand of power supplies, PC cases, water and air cooling and fans for desktop PCs. With more than 20 years of experience in the field of quiet hardware for computers, be quiet! offers virtually inaudible as well as extremely performant products in worldclass quality. Since its foundation in 2001, all be quiet! products are conceived and designed in Germany. The development takes place in close cooperation with our locations in Asia. The final quality control also takes place at our headquarters near Hamburg. This is how be quiet! ensures that every product meets our high standards.

The Dark Base Pro 901 is available in both black and white colors (will be showcasing both in this review, only partially the white however because white on white, not the best result) and as its predecessor is the current flagship model in the be quiet! PC tower lineup. As expected the Dark Base Pro 901 is available with a tinted tempered glass left side panel and as for other features we find interchangeable top and front covers (either for reduced noise or improved airflow), easy to invert motherboard tray and PCI expansion slots, insulated front and right panels, two ARGB LED strips (fascia, PSU shroud), detachable top and front fan/radiator brackets, fan hub, Qi wireless charger, touch sensitive I/O panel, USB 3.2 Gen2 type-c connector, VGA holder and a total of three 140mm Silent Wings 4 PWM fans (1900RPM). Needless to say, the Dark Base Pro 901 has plenty of room for even the largest components including XL-ATX sized motherboards, single 5.25" ODB (lower front), seven 3.5" and sixteen 2.5" drives (room for three 3.5" and six 2.5" drives are included), eleven fans (8x120/140mm, 3x120mm) and/or two 240/280/360/420mm radiators (front 240/280/360/420mm and top/side 240/360mm), 190mm tall CPU coolers, 288mm long power supply units and 495mm long graphics cards. This is one of the largest PC cases right now in the market so let's get up close and personal with it.
