INTRODUCTION
No matter how many times i visit friends (old and new) and family there's always but a single thing missing in front of their desks, a good ergonomic chair. This of course is nothing new since as I’ve pointed out many times in the past not everyone is willing to spend a good portion of their monthly paycheck on a good ergonomic chair but considering that most people i know spend at least 5 hours per day in front of their computers (i usually spend over 8) i think that it's among a handful of house items that are well worth investing in (as for example is a good mattress). Gaming chairs are on the rise globally thanks to the appearance of several new manufacturers and although they may not offer the same support features as some of the high end ergonomic office chair models they do offer something far more important for gamers, design. Noblechairs is one of the latest gaming chair manufacturers to hit the market and thanks to the quality and features of their chairs they've managed to become very famous in a very short time. With us today we have their great looking Epic Black/Red gaming chair.
noblechairs is your prime purveyor of the finest and most elegant seating furniture available in the world. Born out of a passion project of seasoned industry veterans who were unsatisfied with what the gaming chair market had to offer at the time, we have given free reign to our expert designers from Germany to develop a new range of upmarket gamer seats featuring a slightly more subtle style and consisting of only the most valuable of materials. We relentlessly strive to provide our customers with precision-manufactured chairs that go beyond being simple seating furniture and rather become veritable lifestyle instruments.
Although noblechairs is a new player in the market their high-quality gaming chairs offer just as many (if not more) support features as the ones by their competitors. To be more precise the EPIC black/red that we have here with us today features an 100% vegan faux leather PU cover (first time I’ve seen vegan PU leather used in such a chair), steel frame for improved durability (most high-end gaming chairs offer this), class-4 gaslift (can lift up to 120Kg - aside the upper body of the chair itself), 4D armrests (adjustable height, orientation, position and distance from the chair), 5-star aluminium base, height adjustable seat (49.5-59.5cm), removable neck and back pillows, backrest adjustment (135 degrees) and a 11 degrees tilt function. The EPIC series gaming chair is also available in 6 different color combinations for all tastes so aside black and red you can also get it in black and pink, black and green, black and gold, black and blue and just black. Time for us to take a closer look and see just what noblechairs has to offer the gaming community with their EPIC series gaming chair.
SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
PACKAGING AND CONTENTS
Typically we received the EPIC series gaming chair inside a large cardboard box that has the color selection placed at the front right under the company name and logo and next to a product drawing.
No problem with packing since the chair arrived without any issues.
The first two pieces to come out of the box were the backrest and the 5-star aluminum base.
Next in line were the two removable pillows and the height/tilt mechanism.
A small cardboard box was next and inside it we found the class-4 gaslift with its plastic cover, two plastic handles, two side covers, 5 wheels, clear plastic box with 6 screws and an Allen/Philips screwdriver and the assembly instructions paper.
The base was the last piece in the box and as you can see it comes with the 4D armrests attached.
ASSEMBLY
As always i started assembling the chair by mounting the 5 wheels onto the 5-star aluminum base.
The class-4 gaslift and its plastic cover obviously came next.
Tiny details but i like how the plastic cover "sits" on the base.
Unlike most chairs we've tested to date the EPIC may have a single green elastic band at the base but it also has a large metal plate at the center to increase support and durability.
Both 4D armrests come pre-mounted from the factory so no extra work for us here.
The height/tilt mechanism is probably the largest I’ve seen used in a gaming chair.
You will also need to mount the two handles found in the small cardboard box as seen above.
This is perhaps the sole serious drawback of the EPIC series since no matter how many times i tried mounting those handles they just wouldn't stay in place (once one of them even fell off).
Two screws are placed on each side of the backrest so you will need to remove them in order to mount it onto the base.
After that you will need to mount the two side covers as seen above and then place the upper body onto the class-4 gaslift.
FINISHED LOOKS
The EPIC series gaming chair may not be among the largest models in the market today (more like small/medium-sized) but it looks great.
Everything looks and feels great from the noblechairs logo (placed on the top of the backrest and the right side of the base) and the stitching up to the suede material used in several parts of the chair.
The armrests can be height adjusted from 28.5cm and up to 37cm and can also be moved closer and further from the base (2.5cm-5cm).
I was surprised to see that the top of the armrests is not only able to rotate but it can also go back and forth (2.5cm front and 2.5cm back) and left and right (1cm on each side).
Strangely enough although most gaming chairs we've reviewed have a backrest adjustment of up to 180 degrees (meaning you can even take a quick nap) the EPIC only goes up to 135 degrees as seen above.
Both removable pillows are also covered with suede (or at least with a fabric that resembles the looks and feels of suede).
This is a picture of the rear of the EPIC gaming chair.
CONCLUSION
Just like every time we get a product by a brand new manufacturer i honestly didn't know what to expect by noblechairs and although it's quite rare i was actually quite impressed by the EPIC gaming chair. Now this may not be the ideal chair for large people since it's base and backrest are smaller compared even to the medium-sized Nitro by AKRacing (for example the Nitro has a 37cm wide base and 92cm tall backrest as opposed to the 35cm and 87cm of the EPIC) but the level of quality couldn't get any better (PU leather is nothing new but the one used with the EPIC could be easily mistaken for real) neither could the level of comfort (although thanks to its size the PROX feels a bit more comfortable). Now i have to admit that i was somewhat surprised to see that the EPIC series doesn't feature the same backrest adjustment of up to 180 degrees like most of the gaming chairs we've tested so far but that actually may not be important enough to sway potential buyers (besides how many people would actually sleep on a chair?). Also although I like the suede like material used both on the chair and on the removable pillows I am a bit skeptical about its endurance through time (very soft) but at the end of the day it looks and feels great (premium) so we all liked it. Again what we didn’t like were the two handles ment to be mounted on the height/rocking mechanism since they are not easy to mount nor do they stay in place once you do (this could be isolated to our sample only but there’s no way of us to know that) so I really hope noblechairs takes this into consideration.
As expected a high level of quality and comfort combined with looks are things that the end user is usually called upon to pay a premium for and so currently the EPIC series gaming chair by noblechairs costs no less than 339.90Euros directly from their online page (plus shipping). Now this price tag may sound as much but unless you are looking for a large gaming chair with a backrest adjustment of up to 180 degrees the EPIC by noblechairs is without doubt one of the best models currently in the market and for that we’re giving it our Golden Award.
