fideco m248 ssd cloner review b

The FIDECO M248 is a practical, technician‑friendly NVMe dock that prioritizes workflow efficiency over headline‑grabbing speeds. Its strengths line up exactly where a multi‑bay tool should deliver, offline cloning that works reliably without a PC, four bays for parallel drive handling, broad SSD length compatibility, and a foldable cooling fan that keeps thermals under control during sustained transfers. In practice, these features translate into genuinely useful performance, cloning a 2TB NVMe (filled with data) in roughly 22 minutes, a result that’s fast enough for most upgrade, backup, and recovery scenarios. Combined with its compact footprint, the M248 fits naturally into repair benches, review setups, and any workflow that cycles through drives regularly. Its limitations are narrow but as always worth noting. Transfer speeds plateau around 1700MB/s for both reads and writes which although perfectly adequate for cloning and general data movement, it may not be ideal for users expecting full PCIe 4.0 or 5.0 throughput. And while the cooling system is effective, the 2500RPM 70mm fan can reach 41dBA at half a meter, a number which is quite noticeable, especially in a quiet workspace.

Currently the FIDECO M248 4 Bay M.2 SSD Docking station retails for USD132.59 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 114.61Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) so it’s priced just right. Overall, even though the M248 is certainly not perfect it does deliver as advertised and for most users, its trade‑offs won’t overshadow the dock’s versatility and convenience which is why I highly recommended checking it out if you’re in the market for such a dock/cloner.
