tineco floor one s5 review a

Robot vacuum cleaners are without doubt very useful devices (at least as much as the layout of your home or office allows them to be) but even though they can help people free more of their time in order to have a really clean home you need to also put in some manual "work", especially when it comes to mopping. Yes, some models like the ECOVACS T8 and T9 AIVI which I’ve tested do a good job when it comes to mopping but clearly nowhere near to what you'd do with a mop in your hands. Of course, due to obvious water amount limitations (not to mention the very small piece of cloth used) the same applies for cordless stick vacuums, yes, they are very compact and do a relatively good job but again not nearly as good as the traditional mop. That's what smart cordless vacuums (hard floor washers as i like to call them) excel at and today with me I've got yet another such model, the very popular Floor One S5 Smart Cordless Vacuum & Wash by Tineco.

Founded in 1998, Tineco dedicates itself to the engineering of premium household electronics that are helpful, easy to use, and smart. With over two decades of experience in the home cleaning industry, Tineco never stops innovating and is ready to create an easy smart life for everyone. For more information, please visit https://www.tineco.com.

Just like the i5 Pro by Liectroux which i had the chance to test a while back (review here) the Floor One S5 Smart Cordless Vacuum & Wash by Tineco was designed and developed for optimal vacuuming and mopping results on hard floors. To achieve this Tineco is using their very own iLoop smart sensor which basically detects wet and dry debris like milk, water, dust, dirt, hair and pollen and automatically adjusts suction power in real-time. Of course, just like other similar models the Floor One S5 also features a removable cleaning roller (specially designed to support edge cleaning) with a self-cleaning function but unlike many others Tineco has equipped it with a top LCD screen and two water tanks, a 0.8 litre clean water litre tank located at the rear and a 0.7 litre dirty water tank located at the front. Needless to say, the Floor One S5 also features WiFi connectivity (Tineco Android/iOS app with voice assistant) and a 4000mAh built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack which allows it to be used continuously for up to 35 minutes (in iLoop auto mode). The Floor One S5 by Tineco sure looks impressive so let's also see how it performs.

PACKAGING AND CONTENTS

tineco floor one s5 review 1t

Tineco uses a large white box to ship the Floor One S5 inside the front of which is taken by 3 product pictures surrounded by the main product features.

A quick mention of the iLoop smart sensor is placed on the left side along with yet another product picture.

Several pictures over on the right side are used to showcase the bundle contents.

All of the product features are printed and showcased with the help of several pictures at the rear of the box.

Once you open the box, you'll see a 2D barcode, a couple of tips in regards to the Floor One S5 and the quick start guide.

Along with the main body of the Floor One S5 inside the box you'll also find a long aluminum handle, charging base with charging adapter and two plastic holders, extra cleaning/brush roller cleaning tool, extra dry filter, cleaning solution and the user manual.

THE FLOOR ONE S5

The Floor One S5 is placed inside the box without the aluminum handle attached at which point it measures roughly 63cm in height, 27cm in width and 25cm in length.

Tineco has placed their logo at the front just under the LCD screen.

Further down at the front we find the 0.7 litre dirty water tank which comes with one of the two dry filters pre-mounted.

To access and remove the brush roller you will need to remove the top cover as seen above.

Turning the Floor One S5 around we find the WiFi/audio mute button and the 0.8 litre clean water tank right beneath it.

Even though most of the long handle is aluminum the top end which also has the on/off, speed mode and water spray function buttons is made out of plastic.

With the long handle attached the height of the Floor One S5 increases to around 108cm.

The plastic charging base is nothing special really, just a piece of plastic with two holders on the sides (for the extra brush roller, the cleaning tool and the dry filter).

Here you can see the LCD screen and the LED ring around it which changes color based on the amount of dirt detected by the iLoop smart sensor (red for dirt, blue for clean) so if you have the Floor One S5 set at auto it will automatically adjust suction power (here i have suction power set at max).

Finally a size comparison with the i5 Pro by Liectroux is unavoidable (since it's the only other similar model I've used) and as you can see the Floor One S5 is more compact.

TINECO APP

tineco app 1The Tineco app allows you to monitor/control all of their current devices so you will need to pick the right one during setup.

After you add the vacuum, you will be asked whether you'd like to download extra available animations for the app (150MB is not much so you might as well accept).

As expected, the app also checks for available firmware updates and notifies you.

Once you've finished setting up the vacuum, you'll end up on the main app tab from where you can control your paired Tineco devices.

If the vacuum is on the charging base you will see the above screen (even shows where the battery cells are located).

During operation you can monitor the status of both tanks, battery life and change the speed (auto/max).

The app also notifies you when there's not enough water in the clean water tank and when battery's low (20% and below).

From the settings tab you can mute and adjust audio volume levels, change the name of the vacuum, check for firmware updates, change the voice package and access the product manual.

TEST RESULTS

battery

Just like with robot vacuums all cordless handheld vacuum models will be thoroughly tested (for a duration of at least 20 days) to properly and accurately record/measure total battery life (using just the corner nozzle/flat suction tip for cordless vacuum sticks) and noise levels (from around 50cm distance using the ExTech HD600 dBA meter) in all available modes.

CONCLUSION

tineco floor one s5 review b

Three things you'll notice the moment you start using the Floor One S5, the high build quality (and design) of its IPX4 certified body, the LCD screen (which should be significantly better on the pro model) and the fact that the motor which turns its cleaning/brush roller is so powerful that the S5 almost feels self-propelled (this for example is something the Liectroux i5 Pro lacks). After that chances are you’ll almost immediately see just how well the Floor One S5 cleans, yes my floors are never very dirty but I did spill milk and several beverages to check its performance and I have to admit that I don’t think I could had asked for anything more from a hard floor washer. As a matter of fact, its cleaning performance is even better compared to the Liectroux i5 Pro to a point where you simply see no dirt or liquid after the Floor One S5 has passed over a spot. Battery life although not stellar is also quite good since I managed to squeeze 27 minutes by using the Floor One S5 at max mode and 36 at auto (still like I said the floors at home are never that dirty). Noise levels are also reduced compared to what Tineco reports since even at max mode my recordings roughly surpassed just 73dBA from half a meter away. As for the app well, personally i didn’t really find it that useful especially since the LCD screen displays the status of the vacuum (for example you can see when the clean water tank is empty or the current speed mode) but new firmware updates could actually improve the iLoop smart sensor and since you can’t get them without the app you should use it regardless (it also notifies you of when the Floor One S5 is fully charged so that too could come in handy).

So just how much will getting your hands on your very own Tineco Floor One S5 model set you back? Well, the Floor One S5 is clearly a very good wet and dry hard floor vacuum and so the fact that it currently retails for USD424.99 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and for 519Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) is clearly justified. Yes, it’s still far from what many would call affordable but considering that there are countless cordless vacuum sticks out there that cost a lot more and don’t do nearly as much you actually get a far better bang for your buck. Long story short the Floor One S5 model by Tineco leaves almost nothing to be desired and for that it gets the Platinum Award.
