INTRODUCTION
Just like myself people who owned some of the very first large LCD monitors with 16:9 & 16:10 aspect ratios have a really hard time finding something equivalent today. Yes, there are quite a few OLED TVs (between 40-50 inches) that people use as monitors but for all those who care about the fine details these are not quite the same and as for OLED monitors the ones around are either not quite large enough (under 40 inches), they follow the 32:9 aspect ratio (not ideal for everyone) or are way too large (around 50 inches). Personally, I consider 16:9/16:10 the two most balanced aspect ratios around (ideal for both work and leisure) and well, last year EIZO released what might just be the solution for people looking for exactly that, the 43-inch FlexScan EV4340X.
EIZO (TSE: 6737), which means image in Japanese, is a visual technology company that develops and manufactures high-end visual solutions to enrich people in their professional and personal lives. EIZO offers total imaging solutions with a range of monitors, software, video capture, processing, and distribution solutions, cameras, and advanced integrated technologies to meet the specialized needs of customers in business, creative fields, healthcare, air traffic control, maritime, security & surveillance, and more. Headquartered in Hakusan, Japan, EIZO has R&D and manufacturing facilities in Japan, China, Germany, and the United States, and representation in more than 130 countries.
The latest FlexScan EV4340X is typically (for an EIZO screen) available in black and white colors and as its name clearly states it’s a 43-inch LCD monitor (42.5 inches to be exact - 108cm diagonal). This model is based on a 16:9 ratio IPS W-LED backlit panel (8bit) which sports a maximum resolution of 3840x2160p (4K/UHD) with a refresh rate of 60Hz, 5ms (GTG) typical response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350cd/m2 brightness and a pixel density of 104ppi. As with past models the FlexScan EV4340X also features a USB-C port which can be used both to provide power (94W max) and ethernet connectivity (1000 BASE-T) to compatible devices, data USB-C port (15W), two USB-A 3.2 ports, two 4W speakers (8W total), two HDMI ports (v1.4), single DisplayPort port (v1.3), Ethernet RJ45 Gigabit port, USB 3.2 host port and a 3.5mm audio output (headphones/speakers). As expected EIZO packs numerous technologies in their latest FlexScan EV4340X model such as a light sensor (auto brightness control), Picture by Picture (PbyP), Picture in Picture (PinP), EcoView mode (power and CO2 reduction), TUV certified flicker free, low blue light, non-glare matte panel and a minimum brightness of just 1cd/m2. Finally, EIZO typically covers the FlexScan EV4340X with the same impressive 5 year limited one as their previous FlexScan models and of course also offers their zero bright pixels warranty for a period of 6 months.
